  • The widespread dissemination of internet technology gave rise to a new economic modality centered on digital platforms that influenced several segments, including agribusiness. This dissertation aims to identify opportunities for marketing agribusiness products on digital platforms. To achieve this purpose, it is intended, firstly, to carry out a literature review using the prism methodology, encompassing publications in the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Scielo, Science Direct and Periódicos Capes databases; analyze data from sellers participating in the examined marketplace and carry out an on-line survey with the companies that are part of this digital platform that is the subject of the study. The survey with sellers evaluated five conceptual questions arising from the articles evaluated. The results revealed that virtual marketplaces reduce intermediaries, expand the company's reach, diversify marketing channels and increase sales. The interviews also indicated that manufacturers must offer comprehensive solutions, beyond the product, making services and technological packages digitally available to increase the attractiveness of the transaction. The work detected that the five themes addressed by the authors in the 102 articles researched were ratified by the companies, showing that virtual marketplaces have become an accelerated trend that must be considered by companies that intend to remain competitive. Another observation observed is linked to trust, configuring itself as one of the main factors for analyzing sales on digital platforms, notably when it comes to transactions involving high-value equipment, since these operations still arouse the interest of physical contact more direct with the product. In conclusion, the study discovered new facts linked to the commercialization of machines in digital environments, a topic that has not yet been explored commercially or academically. Around 80% of sales on the analyzed platform came from agricultural machinery and equipment, being one of the few e-commerce platforms specialized in this sector in the world, which made it a reference in the area due to its sales volume and for adding to its environment the main manufacturers on the market. This information was communicated to the marketplace managers, who recognized the importance of concentrating even more efforts on this aspect, given the unique competitive advantage developed, hitherto not observed on other similar digital platforms in different countries.

  • Beekeeping is a profitable activity for small, medium, and large producers. In Brazil, it is very promising due to the Brazilian flora, especially in the Cerrado biome, as it is considered one of the largest and richest in the world. Honey production shows positive social and economic impacts, as well as contributing to the maintenance and preservation of existing ecosystems. The beekeeping production chain generates many employment and income flows, especially in the family farming environment. Therefore, it is a determining factor in improving the quality of life and settling people in rural areas. On the other hand, organic products are gaining more market space in the world, as there is a growing demand from the population for healthy foods that are free from pesticide residues. The global organic market was worth 97 billion US dollars in 2019. There is no statistical data on organic honey production in Brazil. However, in 2012 and 2013, Brazilian exports of organic honey to the US were less than 2,500 tons. In 2014, the volume of organic honey sent to the US grew by 345.3%, reaching more than 11,000 tons, and reaching 22,000 tons in 2017. The US is the main destination for honey produced in Brazil. In 2017, they received almost 86.0% of the total volume of honey exported by Brazil. According to Brazilian organic production legislation, which has been in effect since 2011 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, the apiary and its products can be classified as organic or in conversion to organic. Apiaries must be installed in organic production units, in native areas, or in reforestation areas. There are restrictions on apiary implantations that refer to the need to safeguard a minimum radius of 3 km from areas where prohibited products have been applied to organic agriculture, such as pesticides and agrochemicals. For the development of bees, there must be good reserves of water, quality honey, and pollen for the survival of the swarm until the beginning of a new production season. According to artificial feeding, food supplementation, sanitary management, and pest and disease management, they must comply with current legislation. Thus, the process of converting to organic honey production includes different practices and processes, which can cause changes in production, generating social, economic, and environmental impacts for farmers. This research proposal aims to identify the socioeconomic profile of honey producers and consumers in the Federal District. The proposal fits into the effort to understand consumer preferences at the time of honey acquisition. And, regarding beekeepers, to obtain a view of the reality in which these producers are inserted, as well as the difficulties faced by them in the honey production chain.

  • The analysis of soybean and corn production in Brazil reveals significant challenges in the production chain of these grains. Studies and investigations point to a considerable deficit in grain storage in the country, despite the constant annual increase in production, which continues to break records. However, transportation logistics, essential for the productive chain, face serious problems, failing to keep pace with the growth in production and population. This is reflected in additional challenges for producers, who deal with damaged roads, lack of maintenance, and insufficient capacity at ports to handle the entire cargo, resulting in significant delays in ship replenishment. Faced with these challenges, producers find themselves compelled to overcome constant obstacles, from planting to grain sales. In this context, storage emerges as a viable solution for agricultural production in Brazil, providing better returns for producers. However, establishing a grain warehouse requires identifying suitable locations, significant investments, and, above all, the capacity to store the entire production for future sales with higher profitability. Given this scenario, it was recognized that mathematical modeling can provide essential support for decision-making on the best location for establishing soybean and corn warehouses, as well as help evaluate the necessary investments. This study aimed to enrich a mathematical model for the location and storage of soybeans and corn through interviews conducted with soybean and corn producers and engineers specialized in grain storage, combined with a literature review. Additionally, an analysis of mathematical models present in the literature related to the topic of this study was proposed to examine the data used. The interview audios were transcribed, and the data were processed and categorized using the MAXQDA® software, providing a better understanding of the interviewees' responses. A comprehensive table was then compiled, containing all the variables identified in the interviews, totaling 243 variables extracted from 274 responses. For the development of this table and to strengthen the mathematical model, variables identified in the interviews were selected, along with variables used and published by other authors, especially those related to the opening and location of corn and soybean warehouses. At the end of this study, after conducting analyses and comparisons, the proposed objective was achieved, providing a comprehensive table containing relevant data for the opening and location of soybean and corn warehouses.

  • Brazil has the third largest domestic seed market in the world and holds great potential to play a relevant role in the international seed trade, given its agricultural production, history of commodity exports, and the possibility of off-season production compared to other countries. However, the country ranks only 24th in the world's largest seed exporters. On the other hand, the United States leads both the domestic and international seed markets. The seed market is one of the most regulated globally, with its main objective being quality assurance, prevention of counterfeiting, and the spread of pests and diseases. However, regulations may have flaws that affect international trade, while appropriate regulatory frameworks can favor trade and promote a more competitive seed market. In this context, this study aims to compare and contrast the regulatory frameworks of Brazil and the United States impacting seed exports, to ascertain to what extent the Brazilian regulatory framework is favoring or hindering Brazilian seed exports. To achieve the proposed objectives, qualitative comparative analyses were conducted based on eight independent variables grounded in the literature that could impact international seed trade (Export Procedure, Seed Certification, Seed Analysis, Phytosanitary Measures, Variety/Hybrid Registration, Intellectual Property, Biotechnology Regulation, Access to Genetic Resources, and NBT Regulation). The study relied on documentary research, considering that the object of comparison was the regulatory frameworks of both countries, and employed content analysis to conduct comparative analyses, with results presented through thematic categorization. The regulatory characteristics for each country were presented, detailing the applicable legislation and its functioning for each analyzed variable. Subsequently, an analytical comparison between the two countries was conducted, identifying significant similarities and differences in the regulations of the countries. Similarities were found regarding seed certification, seed analysis, and phytosanitary measures, while the main differences were identified in regulatory frameworks related to intellectual property, biotechnology regulation, and access to genetic resources. Additionally, international efforts by various entities aiming to harmonize regulatory frameworks were identified, observable in both countries, as well as emerging future trends that are still in the early stages of regulation but have the potential to affect international seed trade. Overall, the United States appears to be at the forefront regarding regulatory frameworks impacting international seed trade, adapting more swiftly to technological developments and regulatory innovations proposed by international entities.

  • Efficient management of operations in the agricultural sector depends on production planning, a crucial process that organizes and optimizes activities and workload. This leads to reduced production time and costs, ensuring maximum efficiency by determining what, when, and where tasks should be performed. Decision support mathematical models are valuable tools in this scenario as they can incorporate various data to find the best organizational methods, minimizing costs or maximizing profits. This allows farmers to adjust their planting and harvesting strategies in each area, considering scenarios of temperature, precipitation, and labor availability. Therefore, this work proposes a decision support mathematical model for agricultural activities at the operational level, aiming to improve sector management and efficiency. For the modeling process, a systematic and narrative review of the state of the art of similar models was also conducted, followed by a case study with an important organic farm in the Federal District. The mathematical model employed only linear variables and constraints, with the objective function of minimizing the total distance traveled to meet all producer activity demands within an available timeframe. The model follows a routing format, where machinery travels a specific path to meet demands, using nodes (plots) with their respective distances in meters as the route. To evaluate efficiency and resolution performance, a comparison of resolution times was made across different planning periods - 7, 15, 30, and 60 days - using five different solvers: Gurobi, CPLEX, GLPK, CBC, and HiGHS, with the first two being paid and the others free. The results showed that all solvers were able to find optimal solutions within a reasonable time for all evaluated periods. However, for longer periods, the paid solvers (Gurobi and CPLEX) performed better, while the free solvers (CBC and HiGHS) also performed well, with GLPK being the least efficient and not recommended for longer periods. Thus, the model can be considered functional in the presented scenarios, validated with real information from the conducted case study, and establishing itself as a viable tool to support decisions in agricultural activities' operational planning. The work faced limitations due to the initial model's scope, requiring future changes and additions of constraints to handle more sector activities. An option would be to add integer and binary variables, which may increase resolution time but allows for mathematically representing various other scenarios. For future research, it is suggested to apply the model to other similar cases to quantify distances and activity costs, comparing its performance with scenarios without optimization. It is also recommended to develop an intuitive and free graphical interface in Python to facilitate visualization and use of the model by the end user.

  • Producing food and feeding the world in the face of growing demand faces a paradox, since available resources are limited and increasingly scarce. On the other hand, the optimal combination of production factors contributes to cost reduction. Thus, the search for efficiency, more and more, has been shown to be a key factor in achieving competitiveness. However, just being efficient is not enough, the current challenge is to add the environmental factor to the production process and to the analysis of efficiency, what they call eco-efficiency. The objective of this work was to analyze the eco-efficiency of agriculture in the Midwest Region and its determining factors, in order to identify the best practices, offering information and tools for decision-making and implementation of public policies aimed at agriculture. This is a study with a quantitative approach, with an applied nature and exploratory objectives. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used as a method with resampling technique (bootstrap) and truncated regression to estimate unbiased eco-efficiency indicators and their determining factors. The results demonstrate that there is room for agriculture in the Midwest Region to become more eco-efficient, reducing inputs and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and increasing revenues and environmental preservation, equiproportionately, in the order of 32.2%. Access to credit and technical assistance were the exogenous variables that most influenced the region's economic-environmental efficiency. These results led to the conclusion that it is possible to save resources and pressure on the environment, with increased production, with production financing and technical guidance as tools of great impact in promoting eco-efficiency.

  • As a result of consumers' concern for sustainable and socially correct products, the Brazilian Corn Production Chain is going through a transition phase. In this sense, this work proposed to identify initiatives within the scope of the Academy and contextualize them with the Brazilian reality and thus identify actions that accelerate the transition. From the perspective of Prospective Studies, a Systematic Literature Review was carried out involving 66 articles, a questionnaire was applied to 72 rural producers and 23 interviews with chain specialists. The studies indicated the following practices: biotechnology, reduction of nitrogenous fertilizers, crop rotation, reduction of losses and waste, digital agriculture, reduction of CO² emissions and production of bioenergy, biogas, biofuel and bioplastic. The questionnaires encompassed 206,000 hectares spread across 15 Brazilian states and indicated that rural producers already rotate 13 crops, practice direct planting, second harvest, use biological products, cover planting and integration with livestock farming. Aiming at a contextualization in the international scenario, it was compared with the precepts of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and also with the European Ecological Pact. The main conclusions from the evaluation of the selected literature and the statements in the interviews and questionnaires led to the conclusion that Brazil is relatively well-positioned with regard to sustainable agricultural practices, the adoption of technology, the energy model and environmental legislation. The adoption of the Crop, Livestock and Forest Integration (ILPF), the implementation of the Forest Code (although still pending), the Low Carbon Agriculture Plan (ABC) and the Renewable Energy Matrix and the adoption of sustainable practices justify this conclusion. It is still necessary to advance in traceability, combating illegal deforestation, encouraging Ecological Industry and sustainable processing, controlling contamination of groundwater and encouraging sustainable consumption and reducing losses and waste.

  • Brazilian agribusiness has demonstrated, over the years, a significant importance for the development of the country. Within agribusiness, aquaculture, an agricultural activity, is experiencing strong growth and has been gaining ground in recent years. Among the various species produced, tilapia stands out as the most produced nationally, contributing to Brazil reaching the 4th place in the world ranking of the largest producers of this species. Due to the significant importance of the species and the potential consumer market for fish, this dissertation aims to analyze the buyer-supplier relationship in the management of the quality of tilapia consumed in the Federal District. This research is characterized as applied and descriptive and makes use of qualitative research resources. As a research method, 12 semi-structured interviews were applied in fishmongers and restaurants in the Federal District, then triangulation was promoted between the interview data and the data from the non-participant observation scripts, in person and on the internet, previously obtained, which resulted in the characterization of the service operations of the fishmongers and restaurants (buyers) with their customers, in the understanding of the relationship of the buyers with their main tilapia supplier and in the identification of the main relationship factors and quality management practices that are prioritized by the buyers and their relationship with their main supplier. The results indicate that a successful partnership, from the point of view of buyers, is highly influenced when there is trust, commitment and communication, making buyers satisfied with the relationship and wanting to maintain a long-term relationship with their partner. main supplier of tilapia. Additionally, this study recognizes that a successful relationship, aimed at a lasting and long-term relationship, contributes to suppliers making an effort to adopt quality management practices, through continuous improvement for the quality of tilapia and services provided and in compliance with the specifications previously agreed with the purchasing company.

Non-Conventional Food Plants (PANC) have a close relationship with farmers and traditional communities, presenting themselves as a theme of immense potential to be explored in the most diverse areas of research, since they are of great importance for the subsistence of individuals, especially in situations of economic vulnerability. In this sense, the PANC are inserted as a promising natural resource, with several health benefits. The present study aimed to prospect information about the presence of non-conventional food plants in organic fairs in the Federal District, with the purpose of contributing to the dissemination of knowledge about these species, with the increase of diversity in the diet and with the dynamism of the local economy. This is an exploratory, qualitative, and multi-case study. 20 fairs were visited, and 24 producers/marketers were interviewed in different administrative regions of the DF. Data collection was carried out through face-to-face semi-structured interviews. Information about the trader's profile, characteristics of the activity, as well as the perception of the interviewees about the activity were collected. About 80% of respondents knew the term PANC. For most, knowledge comes from childhood, mainly passed on by grandparents. Among the best known and consumed PANC are: ora-pro-nóbis, taioba, peixinho and beldroega. It was found that 88% of respondents produce PANC on their properties and claim that they represent a significant economic gain, generating extra income for the family. The offer is not greater due to lack of knowledge of both producers and consumers. The need to disclose the species and their nutritional and social importance to society was observed.

  • The existing technologies in Brazil for sustainable soy production have been gaining prominence in the national and global context, and are also the result of the current demands of society for rapid transformations in sustainability indicators. The objective of this work was to identify the operational practices of sustainable agricultural management that are being adopted by producers located in the municipality of Rio Verde – GO within the voluntary market of certified soybeans from the perspective of good agricultural practices. It was sought to highlight the different productive profiles of the groups evaluated, to characterize the degree of adoption of producers for the methods of soybean cultivation more sustainable and, finally, to describe the main approaches and technologies implemented in loco by producers. As for the methodological aspects, it is a research of an applied nature and as for the objectives, it is a descriptive research. The methodological instrument used to identify these factors was the case study, with the selection of 22 producers certified in responsible soybean in the standards of the Round Table on Responsible Soy – RTRS. The results show that certified soybean producers have average productivity levels between 73 bags/ha and a maximum of 81 bags/ha. In this respect, it can be noted that more than 55% of the certified producers declare that they have already advanced between 50% and 100% in relation to the replacement of old practices by organic ones. In another analysis, it was found that the model adopted by the producers is oriented to the diversification of crops with green cover plants (turnip-forage, crotalaria, brachiaria, beans, sorghum and millet) and, consequently, with little adherence to crop rotation given the local context. It was also identified that producers make use of herbicides, insecticides and fungicides and, to a lesser extent, for nematicides. On the other hand, it was verified the use of the no-tillage system (SDP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Integrated Weed Management (MIPD) and Biological Nitrogen Fixation (BNF) technique, being actions that contribute to the strengthening of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). With regard to operational agricultural practices, it was noted that producers frequently perform soil analysis for correction of macro and micronutrients, as well as the use of inoculants through seed treatment and/or in the planting furrow with micron. In addition, it was verified the implementation of periodic evaluation practices for pest and disease control in order to reduce the use of chemical inputs. In addition, it was found that producers are adherent to bioinputs, in this aspect, with the use more focused on bio-based insecticides and fungicides, for example, bacteria of microorganisms, seaweed, bacillus  bacteria, fungi of the genus Trichoderma, Beauveria Bassiana and fungi of the genus  Metarhizium Anisopliae used as a microbial pest control agent. Therefore, it is concluded that the adoption and practices of operational soil management recommended by the producers in this research have a positive relationship with the current literature on sustainable production. In this aspect, it is recorded that the increase of pests and diseases in the field, increase of production costs and boost of the international market, tend to induce the agricultural transition of producers to certified soybean production. Thus, producers have much to gain in this process, being even protagonist of a more sustainable agricultural production in the country.

  • Land credit, today called the National Land Credit Program, was created in 1997, and supported at the time by the World Bank, as a form of access to land complementary to agrarian reform. The public policy consists of providing credit with below-market interest rates so that landless farmers or those with little land can acquire a property that was negotiated through market channels, that is, the beneficiary identified a property and negotiated the purchase directly with the seller. The credit provided, in addition to having interest rates well below any other on the market, also has a bonus granted for the payment of installments that are amortized by the due date. However, even with these conditions, the land access program has a significant number of contracts in default and, given this, this study sought to understand the possible causes. This work is structured in multi-paper format, with an article that aims to understand the state of the art on the implementation of this public policy in Brazil and around the world. A systematic literature review was then carried out applying the Metodi Ordinathio, with searches in the Web of Science database and analysis of the 30 most relevant articles according to the applied protocol. To find out the status of active contracts within land credit, credit portfolio databases were analyzed, and provided by the program manager. Subsequently, a semi-structured interview was carried out with 28 agents who work in contracting the credit line, directly with the beneficiaries. The interviews, after being transcribed, were analyzed following Bardin's protocol, with the help of the IRAMUTEQ software. The literature findings were compared to the case study results, with the agents' perceptions. The main results obtained, as possible causes for contract default, are related to difficulties with the acquired property and also to advantageous renegotiations offered only to defaulting farmers. In the first case, the literature pointed to problems involving very small lots, of poor quality or located in a remote region. The actors interviewed corroborate this understanding but point out that this is generated by the fact that the ceiling stipulated for credit is not sufficient to purchase a more suitable property. In the second case, there was no direct mention in the literature, but the actors reported that, by granting large discounts only to defaulting producers, others are encouraged to stop paying, also waiting for these discounts. When discussing the results found in this research, improvements are also suggested to be implemented in the credit line, as a way of maintaining the quality of the application and the return on the public resources invested.

  • The discussion on the tripod of sustainability is latent and transversal to several areas of knowledge, mainly with regard to food and the concept of food heritage. The aim of this systematic review is to discuss whether the promotion and enhancement of food heritage are catalysts for sustainable territorial development. The review showed that different ways of valuing the food heritage are being developed and discussed on several continents, however, the discussion on territorial development is treated as a consequence of secondary importance 23 or is even not mentioned. The discussion was divided into three main axes: i. transition of agrofood systems and heritage valuation initiatives as a means for sustainable rural development; ii. Use of food heritage by tourism as a tool for cultural promotion and a possible driver of sustainable rural development; iii. The formalization of food heritage as a promoter of sustainable rural development.

  • Food losses and waste occur at all stages of the production chain and around 1.3 billion tons of food are lost or wasted annually around the world. The commercialization stage is one of the most important stages in the food system, however, there are few studies with primary data on the waste of fruits and vegetables (FV). One of the most used channels for the sale of vegetables and fruits are fairs, which are a short marketing channel, with few or no intermediaries. Fair books can be described as frequent production sites for solid waste, generated from the beginning of the fair, by unrelated products that fall to the floor or are damaged, until the end of the fair, products not chosen by consumers, due to withering and injuries, case of fruits and vegetables. One of the initiatives to combat food loss and waste (PDA) is to opt for locally produced food, targeting family farming as a great ally in this fight. The research aimed to carry out a survey on the perception of losses and waste involved in fruits and vegetables sold in open-air markets and CEASA, in the Federal District, as well as identifying public policies and social actions existing in the target region of the study. This is applied, exploratory and qualitative-quantitative research. Interviews were carried out with producers/vendors with the support of an interview guide. Data analysis was carried out with the support of the Content Analysis technique and statistical tools.

  • Nutritional quality in school meals and family farming are important segments of public policies, with the focus of the first segment falling on the quality of meals offered and consumed, with a view to supplying nutritional needs and improving school performance, and the emphasis the second addresses the guarantee of income and quality of life for small farmers with predominantly family work. Internationally, family farming has provided, in particular, fresh vegetables for school contexts, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the students' diet. Quality is a subjective concept, socially constructed from experiences, perceptions and representations shared by actors in their reference groups. Different quality conventions coordinate economic activity in the agri-food sector and given its marked importance on the part of economic actors, it instigates greater research efforts on quality conventions that coordinate local purchases from family farming for school meals. This study aimed to analyze how the perceptions of different actors about the quality of food provided by local family farming to the National School Feeding Program (NSFP/PNAE) in a large urban center, the Federal District (FD), influence the coordination of this economic activity. For this purpose, the multipaper format was chosen, revealing, initially, the state of the art on the subject in question, in the international sphere, and, finally, the case study. A bibliometric analysis of 2,042 articles retrieved from the Web of Science was carried out, using the CiteSpace software version 5.7.R2, in addition to a systematic review of the literature published in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, using the Methodi Ordinatio protocol, with a total of 30 articles in the analyzed portfolio, and finally a case study in the Federal District, Brazil, with 35 school feeding actors. In the case study, the content analysis of the interviews was carried out with the support of the Iramuteq software, in the light of the theory of conventions. The results of the literature showed that the nutritional approach is still current in research but has given way to other aspects. As for the design of the surveys examined, longitudinal studies are particularly relevant, as is the relationship between local purchases by family farming and the quality of school meals, which is more concentrated in the southern region of Brazil. The literature also points out that local purchases from family farming contribute to the quality of school meals with nutritious, fresh foods and due to the proximity between production and consumption, while acquisitions in this category generate income for family farmers, favoring local development. In the Federal District, quality conventions promoted food democracy, reconciling various coordination perspectives, which both maintained and shaped the PNAE quality standards, welcoming and negotiating the perceptions of multiple actors in the qualification process. The producer and consumer links shared common worlds of coordination, but the principles evoked were not always the same. This dissertation advanced the discussion by identifying and analyzing the state of the art internationally and, later, addressing the perceptions of different nodes of this short chain, adopting the theory of conventions, which had not yet been applied for this purpose. Additionally, it provides subsidies to PNAE planners, in addition to pointing to an agenda for future research, which may be relevant to be read by farmers, public managers and family farming organizations, researchers and students.

  • The craft beer market has implications for the local economic development. The growth of craft breweries emerged as a localized response to the stale brands and tastes of macro breweries, which specialize in a conventional style. Unlike mass-produced beer, craft beer emerges as a product based on experience and symbolism rather than a utilitarian product, and whose main motivation for drinking it seems to be the search for authenticity. Craft beers seek to offer a product entangled by elements of differentiation. Constructivist Market Studies was used as the framework to understand how the construction of this market takes place based on its socio-technical agencing. This study characterizes the socio-technical agencing in the beer market based on craft practices. Based on interviews with 09 breweries from Brasilia, this work addresses the following themes: craft practices in the beer market; mapping and characterization of the different socio-technical agencing in the construction of the craft beer market. For this goal, a qualitative research method (in-depth interviews) and the use of free software for the analysis of textual data were used. As a result, it was identified the craft practices used by brewers, and their justification concerning craft beer as a luxury product, thus multiplicity in the craft beer market was also characterized due to the plasticity that this market demonstrates. The implications of the research go in the direction of a better understanding of craft practices in the beer market and public policies suggestions for the sector in the DF.

  • In Brazil, family farming is extremely important, both in terms of volume and the destination of its production. It greatly contributes to food security, both by serving a significant part of the domestic market, and for social development, by providing people to remain in the countryside and in maintaining employment. However, this segment has been on the margins of the development observed in the field, experiencing difficulties that threaten its existence. In this context, it is worth highlighting the adoption of organic production as an important alternative for family farming, enabling greater gains due to the higher added value of certified products. Therefore, access to credit policies represents a fundamental condition for family farmers to be able to convert their production to the organic system and keep it competitive – which requires investment, knowledge, and specialized technical assistance. To encourage the adoption of the organic production system and offer competitiveness to family producers, in 2003, PRONAF Verde credit lines were created. Despite the creation of these lines, apparently so advantageous to producers, access by organic family producers is still little used. Thus, understanding the process of granting credit to organic family producers and the reasons that lead them not to access these lines of credit is extremely important, being able to subsidize eventual revisions of their rules, formulation of public policies and implementation of government actions. In view of the above, the present study aimed to analyze the process of obtaining rural credit from the perspective of organic rural producers, verifying the adequacy of credit lines, the indebtedness profile, the difficulties, and the facilitators, seeking to identify the reasons that would justify the non-adherence of producers to these lines. The methodology used in the construction of the research was the multipaper modal, where each chapter has its own objective, literature review, research method, results, discussions, and conclusions. It was noticed that associations and cooperatives can play an important role as promoters of security for the credit process, positively influencing the analysis of so-called interested parties, facilitating access to credit by family and organic farmers and that a large part of organic producers develop its production activities with its own resources. The most relevant reasons for not contracting credit are linked to the credit granting process – notably, the lack of knowledge of the lines and technical assistance for project preparation. It was also noted the need for greater approximation of producers with institutions that support organic agriculture to improve learning, diversify and improve production, as well as their relevance to assist in improving the process of obtaining credit on the part of the producers in the dissemination of lines and project development. It was concluded that there is a need for efficient and articulated action by the State and other entities participating in the process of granting credit for organic family farming, in the sense of disclosing the available credit lines, their procedures for obtaining and required documentation, in addition to the urgency in training and availability of specialized technical assistance for the preparation of projects and monitoring; and also, it was noticed the need to review the lines in question, making them more attractive for producers in terms of business, as well as less bureaucratic, considering the particularities of organic producers and the organic production system.

  • In 2019, Brazil was the main rice producer in America, surpassing 10 million tons. In Colombia, rice occupies the second place in planted area, behind only coffee. Despite this, both Brazil and Colombia need to resort to imports to meet domestic demand and regulate prices in the domestic market. In recent years, the average productivity of Brazilian rice has largely surpassed that of Colombia, in 2019, for example, the two countries had yields of 6,063 kg/ha and 5,671 kg/ha, respectively. There are numerous similarities in the edaphoclimatic conditions between some regions of the two countries, which made it possible to carry out a comparative historical study, whose objective is to identify the variables that were decisive in the performance of the rice production chains in the Department of Meta, Colombia, and the States of Mato Grosso and Tocantins, in Brazil, in the period of 27 years, between 1993 and 2020. As a methodology, the technique of Qualitative Comparative Analyzes (QCA) was used, complemented by a Boolean matrix, to observe a set of independent variables in the Technological, Organizational and Commercial dimensions of the Rice Agroindustrial System, and a set of response variables. Three case studies were established, corresponding to the three regions in the defined time frame. It was found that factors such as investment in research, development and transfer of new technologies, technical assistance, irrigation infrastructure, policies to protect the domestic market, adequate management of State resources and strong presence of public entities marked differences in the performance of the culture in the three cases, with notable advantages for the two Brazilian regions.

  • Public policies in Brazil play a fundamental role in the rural sector development. This dissertation relates to the Fundo Garantidor Solidário (FGS), established by Law 13.986 of 2020, known as the Nova Lei do Agro. Defended as an alternative to traditional guarantees of rural credit and as an inductor of new possibilities for private financing, the study aimed to investigate its elaboration process. It also sought to identify the actions of interest groups, the challenges for implementation and the prospect of adhering to this new form of guarantee by the target audience. For that, a literature review was carried out in order to verify existing studies on the subject, a documentary research, a manifestation in the Plataforma Integrada de Ouvidoria e Acesso à Informação do Governo Federal (Fala.BR) and data collection through semi-structured interviews. The results show that this public policy was perceived as unfeasible by the interviewees due to the requirements of composition of the fund, the complex operational model and the lack of information on the part of those who would be the beneficiaries, which led to its non-use and consequent amendment of the law two years later, in 2022.

  • The current scenario in Brazil and the Federal District is one of large expansion of production and consumption of organic fruits and vegetables. In this context, certain management practices in primary production promote losses in production, post-harvest and waste during preparation and consumption in homes. The purpose of this work is to carry out a diagnosis on the waste of organic fruits and vegetables in the homes of consumers of the Organic Market - CEASA/DF, as well as on the losses in organic fruits and vegetables in the production and post-harvest processes, considering cooperative producers of the COOPERORG-DF. It was also sought to evaluate the destination of agricultural and food waste generated. Therefore, this study is of an applied nature, with a qualitative-quantitative approach, of an exploratory and descriptive nature. A Literature Review was carried out on the subject, a multiple case study and a survey (Survey) with consumers and producers. Consumers, for the most part, carry out waste consciously and know that they lose money with food disposal. However, they claim not knowing what to do and not having time to change their attitude. Those who take advantage of the waste, claim to discard it in organic waste and send it to compost. For the most part, from the point of view of consumers, SDG 12 is not met. Regarding producers, there is a significant loss in the crop/harvest stage. About 25% of the waste is placed on the soil for soil composition and/or destined for animal production, while 20% is destined for composting and fertilizer formation, in line with SDG 12. Farmers’ actions meet SDG 12 due to sustainable field practices.

  • Brazilian agriculture is an agribusiness sector considered one of the main references in the world in terms of production techniques in a tropical climate with high productivity rates. The digitization of this agriculture could raise these rates even further, in addition to contributing to environmental sustainability. In view of this prospective scenario, it became necessary to investigate the theme from the following perspective “How is the adoption and diffusion of new digital agriculture technologies developed for rural producers in Brazil?”. Thus, the present study aims to evaluate the adoption and diffusion of new technologies of digital agriculture developed for the rural producer, especially in the production of grains in the main Brazilian producing regions, and to identify the motivating and impeding factors that influence the decisions of these farmers. After arduous exploratory bibliographic research, given the incipient study on the subject, a questionnaire was prepared consisting of questions about digital technologies, motivating and impeding factors for adoption, and sociodemographic issues. The questionnaire was applied to rural producers and administrators, whose answers were transformed into data using the RStudio statistical method, and the results were presented in an analytical descriptive manner. In view of the results collected, it was concluded that grain producers already use digital technologies in the production process, since they are aware of the benefits of digital agriculture, being prone to those that provide better cost control, management, and provision of updated information. However, the lack of internet in the field seems to limit them, as it has been identified as the main barrier to the adoption of these technologies.

  • Food loss and waste is a problem that affects sustainable development, occurring throughout the food chain. Food waste happens in the final phase of the chain where the consumer is a protagonist in this process, and many variables lead to waste in homes. This research aimed to analyze which variables most induce consumers in the Federal District (DF) to waste food. This is an applied research, exploratory and descriptive, of quantitative approach with the use of a questionnaire as a research instrument, applied through an online platform. Statistical analyses were used, such as Chi-square test, Pearson coefficient, Mean Iten Score, for data analysis. Among the main results, consumers claim that they prefer healthy, fresh and food-free food. Most of the respondents are women. Consumers make shopping lists and have a habit of taking advantage of leftovers, but many still claim to leave leftover food in the fridge for too long, which leads to waste. In relation to disposal, organic waste is the most common route, which demonstrates contrary behaviour, which is followed by Europeans, for example, who have a waste management hierarchy. Consumers exhibited behaviors and were possible to divide them into two clusters. It can be concluded that the problem is complex, and further studies are still needed, because mitigating waste in homes is difficult and complicated. However, consumers in the Federal District tend to have the intention of not wasting food, which is an important behavior to avoid waste.

  • With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, a massive concern arose from the population in the face of new challenges that would arise for the maintenance of human survival in all sectors of society. Thus, it was no different with the organic food production chain, which was forced to seek new increments that would help it overcome such a difficult period.  The objective of this dissertation is to present a view from the point of view of the links production, marketing and consumers of organic foods in the Federal District (DF), Brazil, before the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology sought to lead to the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, using a field investigation before interviews that made it possible to have a panoramic situation of these three elements of the organic food production chain in the Federal District. The results showed that it had a direct influence on the executive actions of each actor, where each one experienced moments of uncertainty, bringing future questions in the event of the occurrence of new similar situations that came to happen. But it was also perceived that, despite the difficulties, these actors will continue with their efforts and that the lesson learned from the pandemic has redeemed new knowledge for the future. Finally, it was concluded that despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the production, marketing and consumption of organic foods have new possibilities for prosperity and strengthening this production chain.

  • The complex forms of organizations that emerged in agribusiness support the focus of analysis on companies or organizations and on their social and commercial relationships, based on specific products. In this research, the inclusion of actors and their interactions is demonstrated in the use of the concept of networks, based on trust. The objective of the research was to identify the influence of trust in the relationships between the cooperative members of COOPERORG/DF, as well as between the cooperative members and the management of the cooperative, to contribute to the strengthening of the cooperative and boost its expansion in the market. The research is characterized as exploratory, applied, qualitative and a study case. When characterizing the demographic and socioeconomic profile of the cooperative members, important characteristics were observed such as the influence of the female gender in production and their prominence in the processing and improvement of organic products in the DF; the understanding of the relationships based on trust highlighted among the cooperative members and the reduced dimension towards the management of the cooperative. The cooperative members are unaware of the cooperative's rules and regulations, even though most of them have a degree. No leaders were observed in the cooperative. The board of directors cannot influence the actors. The gaps in cooperative management presented in this research demonstrate the importance of intra-organizational networks for the development of organizations. The main highlight is the informal relations between the cooperative members. However, these relationships do not stand out in organizational dynamics. Although the literature highlights that smaller, homogeneous groups with internal norms have greater trust and reciprocity, obtaining greater social capital in the organization, this research reported an inverse scenario, of devaluation of social capital. The main contributions of this study are related to the presentation of the evolution of research on the subject, the indication of trust for the analysis of the intraorganizational network and the success of collective actions, as well as the identification of factors that converge to the role of trust in the construction and development of social capital.

  • The implementation of programs of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ATER), such as the Dom Helder Câmara Program (PDHC), are essential to stabilize the situation of quilombola farmers in terms of poverty, and ensure better living conditions. This dissertation sought to analyze the effect of ATER in phase II of the PDHC for food security and income of quilombola family farmers, compared to non-beneficiaries of the Program. The methodological procedures were based on quantitative research, primary and secondary data collection, mapping exercises through administrative records, case studies and structured and semi-structured interviews with beneficiaries of the Program. The impact assessment was carried out using the “propensity score matching” method. The results confirm the importance of the program, which had a positive impact on agricultural income by 48%, and provided a 36% increase in the total production value of the assisted quilombola families, considered important mainly in times of economic and health crisis. In addition to being responsible for alleviating the conditions of poverty and extreme poverty in these communities, the Program fulfilled an important objective in strengthening the autonomy and conditions of family farmers at the community level. In this sense, it is concluded that public policies to support family farming, especially technical assistance and rural extension, constitute a fundamental foundation for the strengthening of traditional communities.

  • The Vendas Balcão Program (ProVB) aims at small producers' access to public corn stocks of the Federal Government at subsidized prices. This program has a significant operating cost, and the purpose of this study is to reduce this cost by optimizing the flow distribution from a producing region using intermediate warehouses. Few studies were found on the flow of grains within the national territory to serve the domestic market. In this sense, this work proposes a linear mathematical programming model to support the decision on the best flow to meet the ProVB. Data were extracted from government agencies, tabulated, applied to the mathematical model and the results analyzed. As a final result several scenarios were analised and presented.

  • In Brazil, the organic production area has been expanded in different states and has provided economic, environmental, and social benefits. In the Alto Paraíso region, which is in the northeast of the State of Goiás, this model has advanced. Farmers from the Silvio Rodrigues settlement and region have gradually replaced conventional management with organic or agroecological-based agriculture. To assess the impacts of the organic or agroecologically based model, the Environmental Impact Assessment System of Agricultural Technological Innovations (Ambitec-Agro) was used, which consists of a set of performance indicators for technological innovations and agricultural management, which serves to evaluate seven aspects: 1. Use of Inputs and Resources; 2. Environmental Quality; 3. Respect for the Consumer; 4. Employment; 5. Income, 6. Health; 7. Management and Administration. When analyzing the implementation of the agricultural model and the agroecological transition in the properties of the region with the help of Ambitec-Agro, it was verified that the implemented techniques raised the environmental, social, and economic indicators. Activity impact criteria such as energy consumption, property value as well as biodiversity conservation and environmental recovery had a significant increase by the non-parametric Wilcoxon test. Therefore, the transition to organic or agroecological management has provided greater sustainability for agricultural activities in the region.
