  • This academic work aims to analyze the training of fashion design professionals in the Federal District through the pedagogical project of the courses and analysis of data obtained through interviews and questionnaires, in order to understand how sustainable practices are in the teaching-learning of three institutions that offer the Higher Education Course in Fashion Design Technology in the Federal District. Based on the understanding that it is necessary to go beyond documented inclusion in Pedagogical Course Projects and therefore, the need to explore in depth the reality of higher education in fashion design, the research analyzes the situation of the three undergraduate courses in the Federal District in relation to the teaching-learning of sustainable practices, being: Centro Universitário IESB, Centro Universitário UNIP and Instituto Federal de Brasília and its purpose is to contribute to the mapping of strategies for the insertion of sustainability premises in student training. This work is exploratory-descriptive in nature and has a qualitative approach, using bibliographic research constructed through bibliographic review and legislative and guiding documents from institutions, bringing the authors' position on the concepts of sustainability, sustainable development, fashion and pedagogical course design. The case study carried out in the three higher education institutions also included interviews and questionnaires with coordinators and students to deepen the analysis. With the interweaving of information obtained in the analysis of the Pedagogical Course Project and interviews, a space for dialogue is established that enables critical and active training of students regarding sustainability, allowing the student, through their training and practice, work in the field of fashion design, meeting marketing and socio-environmental demands.

  • Digital tools have been used for the inclusion of individuals from the Deaf community as teaching and translation support. Studies show that animated avatars are well-received by users and can satisfactorily reproduce the richness of facial and physical expressions. However, most of these tools are still subject to criticism regarding the quality of sign execution, especially non-manual signs. This research seeks to answer the following question: are customization and interaction in a 3D environment relevant for teaching LIBRAS when compared to teaching with animated videos? The main objective of this research was to investigate whether customization and interaction possibilities in a 3D environment are relevant for teaching LIBRAS compared to teaching with animated videos, that is, without customization and interaction. To achieve the objective, the following specific objectives were sought: (1) apply a method for the development of a 3D platform prototype to teach the LIBRAS alphabet using the concepts of Instructional Design, Inclusive Design, and Information Design; (2) analyze user perceptions with an alpha version of the prototype to incorporate them into the development process following the assumptions of inclusive design; and (3) conduct a second test with a beta version to compare user perceptions regarding the use of the developed 3D platform and teaching with an animated video format. The results show that the learning experience using the avatar was considered satisfactory by users, with no significant resistance to its use, both in the interactive version and in video format. Most volunteers considered that the avatar in question had sufficient characteristics to convey LIBRAS signs. They also believe that the use of the avatar helps capture attention during lessons and makes the learning experience stimulating. In the comparative evaluation between the two learning versions, the 3D platform was identified by 51.9% as the more effective teaching model, and 46.2% believe it is the animated video. Some aspects unique to the 3D environment version were deemed indispensable by the majority of users, such as the possibility of avatar customization, which is related to representativity. The most mentioned option was "cultural representativity" (55.8%), followed by "racial diversity" and "biophysical aspects" (50% each), "gender diversity" (42.3%), "appearance, fashion, and style" (38.5%), "seasonal variations" (26.9%), and "sexual orientation" (23.1%). Most also indicated a preference for creating avatars that resemble their real image or how they perceive themselves. Additionally, users predominantly showed interest in the flexibility to change the platform's background image and view around the avatar, possible only in the 3D environment version. In conclusion, although there was no markedly different evaluation between the two formats, the 3D platform stands out as customization and viewing flexibility, unique to this format, proved to be important in user evaluations. Therefore, this study highlights aspects to be considered in the design of LIBRAS learning tools, both in ensuring accurate sign reproduction and incorporating interaction and representativity features.

  • This work investigates the ontology of the Digital by questioning the use and dissemination of metaphors that create a specialized view of the research object still prevalent in the 21st century. For this purpose, an exploration was conducted to understand the nature of the Digital and its social, political, technological, and perceptual implications for the citizen- users who are part of the system it overlaps. Through a multidisciplinary and systemic approach anchored in Technopolitics, Cybernetics studies, and using Design and its technologies as a starting point, a taxonomic model for the ontology of the Digital is constructed throughout the text, accompanied by a critique of its construction that indicates the Digital should be seen as an integral layer of human ecology, abandoning the idea of a "digital space." This perspective allows us, by renouncing tool-based and functionalist discourses around the Digital, to adopt a more philosophical view of the phenomenon, in a more complete and integrated manner in everyday life, and thus contribute to a broader understanding of the digital dimension, encouraging further explorations of its implications for future research, Design practices, and social engagement.

  • Cariri Cearense is home to great talents in different areas of knowledge and the arts. Through the figure of Padre Cícero, Juazeiro do Norte stands out as one of the largest centers of religious pilgrimage in Brazil. Cities can be characterized through urban spaces, their affective memory, and cultural expressions. From this research, we sought to understand the relevance of knowing one's own territory, urban landscapes, local/cultural history. In the context of the city of Juazeiro do Norte, questions arose with the aim of understanding its cultural, historical and affective systems and the way in which they articulate with the city's imaginary as a pilgrimage destination in praise of Padre Cícero throughout Brazil. Thus, the problem arose: how is the visual culture of the city of Juazeiro do Norte defined? In this sense, it is considered a rich and multifaceted visual culture, reflecting the history, traditions and unique identity of the city. Some key aspects that define it: religion and faith, art and crafts, architecture, the colors and textures of the city, the natural landscape, cultural events. To point out this perspective, a theoretical approach was made based on texts that seek to understand the mediations, effective and symbolic uses of space, its visuality and the material production resulting from these elements.

  • The following study proposes to evaluate the interdisciplinary nature between psychology and design, focusing on the importance of creativity as one of the essential elements of a designer's activity, as well as the evolutionary and adaptive human psychic factor. For the deepening of this investigation, instruments were used to measure designers' perceptions of their creative process and in which stages or conditions difficulties and limitations are perceived in expressing creativity. For conceptual definitions, Lev Vygotsky's historical-cultural approach was used as the main framework. This study presents arguments that investigate the concept of creativity, crossing various interdisciplinary fields that relate directly and indirectly to this process. Thus, one of the purposes of this study is to understand the broad and complex meaning of the concept of creativity, allowing for the deconstruction of common notions and perceptions that interfere with how individuals evaluate their creative potential. Under these conditions, the value and importance of creativity and design for human technological, scientific, and evolutionary development are demonstrated throughout this work. By affirming that creativity is a universal psychic element, that is, every individual is creative, it is considered that it is a factor present in the human species that emerges from the capacity to alter its context through social, cultural, and environmental interactions that develop through learning, language, and experiences. Thus, various activities have adapted in fields of specific knowledge and procedures, one of them being design. Through this vision, design is understood as a type of creative process that occurs through human action, transforming and altering its environment in an artificial way. The investigative nature of this study aims to understand and analyze the creative aspects of designers through specific instruments for collecting data on their perceptions of individual design creation processes and barriers to personal creativity. In this way, practical solutions can be thought of and discussed that effectively help designers' perceptions of their creative potential, making this process a healthy journey in their professional, academic, or personal development and creation.

  • Digital Health has increasingly proven to be a significant opportunity to promote equity in public health. Achieving this is intrinsically linked to social participation and the democratization of decision-making spaces in public policy formulation. In this context, decolonial design emerges as an approach to confronting hegemonic narratives that perpetuate the colonial legacy and maintain unequal power relations. Participatory design also presents itself as an approach that encompasses collaborative, inclusive practices that promote research. Consequently, two experiments were conducted. The first, titled "Equity for SUS Workers," applied the Double Diamond method. The second experiment, focusing on ethnic-racial equity in digital health, utilized the safe space approach from decolonial design practices. Considering Brazil's history of equity and participation in public health, especially in matters related to innovation and technology, this research aimed to experiment with the implementation of the decolonial design tool for public policies as a means of promoting equity and participation for the SUS Digital Program. Commitment to democracy, locally produced situated knowledge, the protagonism of peripheral voices, the confrontation of social inequalities, and methodological flexibility and consistency were established as guiding principles. For validation, the tool was implemented in a workshop aimed at digital health transformation for the Maré favela, in a collaborative space involving the community in its territory. After developments, the tool evolved into five stages: preparation, immersion and discovery, creation, prototyping, testing, and scaling. Thus, it offers alternatives to increase the effectiveness of public policies, based on the active participation of end-users and stakeholders through democratic design processes.

  • The educational landscape is undergoing significant changes influenced by a new sociocultural paradigm, driven by the rapid advancement of digital technologies and the utilization of active educational methodologies that foster creativity through ludic experiences. In this context, this study aimed to explore the main characteristics of gamified instructional strategies that promote an increase in creativity among students in online learning environments, supported by digital information and communication technologies. Based on nine game techniques related to the Octalysis framework, a systematic literature review was conducted, encompassing only empirical studies whose analyzed data were related to the fundamentals of constructivist educational theories and positive psychology, such as Flow and Self-Determination theories. Of the highlighted game techniques, seven were identified in the selected sample of studies, with Instant Feedback and Real-Time Control emerging as the most commonly employed, at 28% and 21% respectively. In contrast, Boosters and Evergreen Combos were found to be the least utilized, with only 3% occurrence each. The complexity of planning and execution was pointed out as a factor that may contribute to the low adoption of these techniques. Subsequently, ten principles for gamified instructional design were developed, with the purpose of maximizing learner creativity. These principles were classified into Instrumental, Relational, and Individual, reflecting a focus on educational tools, social interactions in the learning environment, and the intrinsic characteristics of the students, respectively. The results of the research suggest that, despite the inherent challenges in applying these strategies, ludic approaches that encourage creativity have the potential to enhance cognitive response, increase engagement, and foster the creative development of the students involved.

  • This research is part of the field of inclusive design, investigating how deafblind people can participate in fashion events using accessible solutions. The inclusion of these individuals in fashion shows and the lack of accessibility are central themes. The main objective is to determine how deafblind people can interact meaningfully with inclusive artifacts in the context of fashion, using design and its potential. The methods adopted include a qualitative literature review to systematize scientific knowledge on the subject and the Participant Observation Method to understand the universe of deafblind people. The results indicate that, although the fashion context is often exclusionary, it can be transformed into a welcoming and accessible environment, regardless of individuals' sensory conditions. It is concluded that there is an urgent need to transform this scenario through inclusive design and accessibility, especially adapted to the needs of deafblind people. The communication of people with deafblindness is characterized by the use of touch, which establishes a connection between this sense and the ability to understand mediated by the touch of objects designed for this purpose.

  • This dissertation deals with Design as problem solving that makes use of different kinds of knowledge. This approach makes it possible to observe problems from different points of view. This research argues that traditional peoples have wisdom that needs to be documented, not only for the purpose of recognition and appreciation, but also because they can contribute to finding solutions to complex world problems. It proposes that humanbeings are directly related to materiality, and this relation can solve problems in at least two dimensions: producing materiality, or in a symbolic way, when new meanings are attributed to this materiality. This qualitative research makes use of extensive literature review to focus on the history and organization of the kalunga quilombolas. It is based on the assumption that the extensive relationship of the kalunga people with their territory allowed them to produce different kinds of knowledge.

  • Embroidery is a manifestation of material culture, strongly marked by ancestry, orality, femininity, domesticity, and precariousness. This is applied research, with descriptive and explanatory objectives, with qualitative approach, using methodological procedures of bibliographical research and semi-structured interviews with women embroiderers. It aimed to analyse the impact of embroidery executed by three associations of embroiderers to promote the autonomy of women in the artistic-cultural and political-feminist spheres, having design theories as a critical reference, with a feminist perspective. A bibliographical review was accomplished, as well as qualitative research, through interview with semi-structured questionnaires, applied to 19 women members of three associations of embroiderers. The study identifies that embroidery is recognized by embroiderers as a form of artistic manifestation, which generates a special creative pride and social recognition. For low-income women, embroidery brings a significant economic contribution, despite the low female wages. The artistic, social, and economic valorisation of women subverts the traditional feminine role, promoting women's capacity for agency. Manifestations of “embroidactivism” were recognized, a female political activism through embroidery. The embroidery circles encourage the creation of female support networks, becoming a sociotechnology of care among women, with potential for promoting feminist awareness. The study identified strategies of design for social inclusion, participative design, and emotional design. It sustains the relevance of thinking about design as a political process, which can be directed towards promoting the autonomy of historically excluded groups.

  • The years 2020 to 2022 were marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Two contemporary phenomena collided into an intersection in this period: the advance of depression as one of the most disabling diseases worldwide and the rise of the video games industry to a global entertainment market giant. People began to seek human connection and relief from depressive symptoms in games, using them as applied or even incidental therapeutic intervention. A systematic review designed a current scientific panorama on this topic, which revealed underutilized factors in coping strategies for depression such as the subjective relationships between players and games that transform virtual environments into therapeutic worlds. A theoretical-methodological repertoire has been sought to investigate such relations. Based on a netnographic approach, a sample of testimonials about games that help to deal with psychic suffering has been collected and the verbs analyzed, bearing in mind that in- game action creates the player's relationship. A Semiotic Web based on Nöth's Theory of Semiosis was then built to illustrate the relationships of significance perceived in the analysis and support a qualitative discussion. Psychology, Anthropology and Linguistics have been intertwined through Design, aiming to make the main object of the research — players with depression — into a subject that produces relevant knowledge about themselves and their condition. It is considered that adding this perspective to the corpus and the praxis can contribute to expand the understanding of the theme, to the development of practices and therapeutic games, and to the destigmatization of voices that suffer in silence.

  • This project seeks to reflect on how design and education can work together in the construction of an engaged, critical, and creative pedagogy, promoting the experience of full citizenship and generating more equal opportunities from the school. The research starts from the concepts of bell hooks' emancipatory education, Paulo Freire's critical and liberating pedagogy, and Edgar Morin's complexity, seeking to understand how these theories relate and how design can be a vector for the strengthening of a "type of teaching" that seeks a critical understanding of reality. Through bibliographic analysis and the testimony of two teachers from the public school system in the Federal District who have creative activities and principles of liberating pedagogy, topics such as the formation of learning communities and creative communities, their convergences, and how they can inspire the construction of a liberating educational process that seeks to overcome processes of oppression, especially of race, gender, and class, recognizing the subject as a social being, inspiring the creation of communities of change will be discussed.

  • With the thought focused on questioning how phenomenology could approach the creative processes, in order to better concentrate the configuration of objects in design, the Husserlian model of consciousness of objects is launched on the stages of creative processes seen through two authors in design: Lobach and Flusser, one representing the concrete manifestation while the other the abstract manifestations. The cube model is used by the German philosopher and mathematician Edmund Husserl to establish phenomenology as a method of science of essences. The application of the exam is based on the hypothesis that the information about the object is given by itself in its many manifestations, since all consciousness is consciousness of something and that essences are public. As a result, five procedural guidelines were generated, extracted from the formal structure of the objects of consciousness that may make possible this approximation between the two areas of knowledge. They are the guideline for: (1) evocation of information; (2) multiplicity of data; (3) data crossing; (4) apprehension of the phenomenon; (5) creative attitude. These were properly applied to the graphic analysis of an object-book "in-world" released by Blizzard Entertainment with the history of the online game franchise Diablo III: Book of Cain, object brought for analysis in this dissertation. The research highlights the importance of the briefing in creative processes, which in the light of phenomenology is a descriptive manifestation that allows the designer to reach information about the object that will come to fruition in a future time. Thus, the investigation carried out in this dissertation consists of the parallel between abstracting and concretizing and all the intermediate steps between the imagined object and the present object. Using bibliographical, qualitative and exploratory research, this research is based on the typological method, in which it compares phenomenology to design processes in order to find in this juxtaposition a possible way in which phenomenology can be used as a creative method. It was concluded that becoming aware of objects is part of the designer's creative experience. This discovery of the essence of an object that happens to the designer in the interaction with the project in its different manifestations - mental, descriptive and evident, is part of the creative dynamics and allows the designer to design multifaceted objects. The awareness of projects can allow graphic choices that are more consistent with the essence of things, but not only that, it also proved to be a powerful tool in the search for leveling between essences and appearances.

  • The present dissertation seeks to verify if there is a perception of greater motivation to work, by employees, when a visual identity is instituted for their agendas in a public organization. Specifically, we sought, from the theoretical framework, to understand the main concepts about motivation, as well as the visual cognitive processes that act in the human psyche, in order to generate feelings that will lead individuals to act more motivated when subjected to some visual identity (VI) in their organizations. It is also reported, from the literature review, the importance of IVs and their components for the creation of meaning in organizations. This research is qualitative and two experiments were carried out in order to measure the change in collective behavior. Thus, two teams from the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, who had the visual identity of the project they work on created by a designer, were interviewed using semi-structured interviews as a methodological instrument. Thus, from the analysis of the results obtained through the interviews and the comparative study of the two contexts researched in the organizational environment, it was concluded that there was a motivational increase in the behavior of the majority of those surveyed due to all the symbolic load that VI and its use generated in the team. On the other hand, the importance of valuing the strategic role of the designer in public institutions was verified, since, from the results obtained in the experiments, it is possible to recognize the value of the technical work of this professional for the motivational increase of the employees of the researched organisation. Thus, based on this investigation and the analysis of the case studies, it was verified that there was greater motivation in most of the individuals in the researched teams, based on the creation of IVs produced by design professionals in the organization where they work.

  • The textile industry, over the centuries, has stood out as one of the most harmful to the environment, significantly contributing to the contamination of air, water, and soil and demanding extensive energy in its production and transportation. This study highlights the waste generated by the manufacturing process, especially when clothes become obsolete, both in the pre-consumption and post-consumption phases. Often, these wastes are directed to landfills, where they can persist for years, resulting in severe environmental and socio-economic impacts. Brazil stands out as a prominent producer of textile materials, generating approximately 170,000 tons of solid textile waste annually, of which about 80% are improperly disposed of in landfills. It is noteworthy that the clothing industry is the third-largest waste producer in the country. Given this scenario, design plays a crucial role in reshaping business models and actively promoting the transition to a sustainable economy. This research, using clothing as an investigative focus, seeks to reflect on and contribute to sustainable design, anchored in three main pillars: economic, social, and environmental. An extensive bibliographic analysis was conducted on international and national databases, as well as local investigations to contextualize the research. Adopting a qualitative and exploratory approach, the study emphasizes design's role in shifting paradigms, integrating sustainability into its practices. From a holistic perspective, design acts as a connecting link between different areas of knowledge, encouraging a transition towards a more sustainable world and catalyzing deep and lasting changes.

  • Organizational culture presents itself as a reflection of the values and confidence of workers, which was built over years of social development, and is based on paradigms that have been practically immutable since the industrial revolution. This stagnation has made organizational culture a place of growth for a mechanistic mentality based on direction and linearity. This work proposes the presentation of a framework, in the light of Regenerative Design, for the development of corporate leaders who foster a regenerative organizational culture. The method chosen to conduct the research was Design Science Research, starting with a systematic and narrative review of the literature, to survey the state of the art of the research topic and define reference artifacts. The assumption that underpinned the construction of the study is that with the application of regenerative culture design methods, emotional design and the Theory U approach in the context of leadership development, an efficient framework will be created to guide experience designers and professionals. of corporate education in developing better learning experiences. In our field studies, questionnaires were applied to understand the perception of organizational culture and 5 semi-structured interviews were carried out with managers in public companies at the federal level, with the consequent description of what was trained, with the aim of identifying and selecting themes, elements and approaches methodologies that must be considered and applied when proposing the framework. During the interviews, most participants identified gaps related to the formal process of leadership development and organizational culture, which the participants identified as pluralistic. Finally, an evaluation of the maps was carried out and opportunities for improvement were identified by conducting a focus group made up of leaders participating in the research, whose contributions indicated adjustments and refinements to the final version. The framework proposed in this study, named Regenrative Leadership Framework, has an explanatory character, circular shape and presents a journey of self-awareness about the act of leadership based on regenerative thinking.

  • The research conducted in this dissertation deals with the correlation between sensoriality, feelings and artistic expressions inserted in the urban spaces of the Federal District - assimilated through the lens of design and mediated by the interpretation of the imaginaries composed by the artists who took part in this research.
The proposed reflection refers to the role of artistic and cultural manifestations in everyday urban spaces as a potentializing factor for awakening ideas and proposing questions to the individuals who inhabit the city.
However, I also provide a critique of the individual's dialogical capacity with the spaces they inhabit, by arguing that an aesthetic awareness — of feeling — makes us more capable of understanding the needs of space in order to propose transformative mediation actions in these spaces.
The scrutiny takes place precisely by correlating the act of feeling with the concepts of imaginary, aesthetics and utopia, within the territory of the Federal District. The investigations were carried out with this scope in mind.
The aim is — with the participation of artists from the Federal District — to map the territory through their sensory and sentimental imaginaries, in order to envision artistic interventions that affect the daily lives of citizens. Semi-structured interviews and focus groups were used to verify these investigations.
The final stage of the research is the Artistic-Cultural Utopian Cartography: in which the sensory-sentimental imaginaries related to the spaces of the Federal District — presented in the interviews — underpin the propositions and intertwine with the intervention proposals formulated by the artists investigated.
The result is a vast documentation that represents the artists' perception and activity, and their respective involvement with the territory, specifically in regards to the artistic nuance.

  • This research establishes a connection between the corporeality of diasporic black women in the territory of the city of Salvador (Bahia) and the literary work "A Flaw of Color" (2006) by Ana Maria Gonçalves. The referred title was inspired by an enslavement law that allowed black and mixed-race individuals to request that "the deficiency of color be ignored" when demonstrating talent or exceptional competence. It was chosen as the narrative thread of this study for its historiographical metafiction that presents a narrative from  a black woman’s perspective - telling the story of Kehinde: Luísa Mahin. In the 19th century, Kehinde (of African origin) was a former enslaved woman, the mother of the abolitionist lawyer Luís Gama, a Brazilian.
The book portrays the territory and urban space through religious, social, political, affective experiences, as also important abolitionist revolts, such as the Malê Revolt and the Sabinada. The research employed the Family Album methodology (Silva, 2008) and visited 12 black families in Salvador-BA, resulting in 29 interviewees and 491 analyzed images. The main outcomes of the research analysis reveal areas of convergence in the comparative analysis between the corporeality, the relationship with the territory, and the sense of belonging of black women, as well as challenges and obstacles faced to experience the city to its fullest. This convergence is observed both in the experiences of black women in Salvador in the 19th century, as reported in "A Flaw of Color", and as in the narratives obtained from the interviews conducted by us in the second decade of the 21st century.
On the other hand, the research with family albums made it possible to identify a change associated with increased access to the territory and a greater sense of belonging to the city by black women. Despite some positive changes being observed, it is evident that the experience of the corporeality of diasporic women still has more similarities with that analyzed in the 19th century than with the current situation of needing to ensure black women full access to human rights and the right to the city in contemporary times.

  • The aim of this study was to analyse users' experiences when using university websites. To this end, a theoretical reference research was conducted on the topics of “usability” and “institutional websites” of universities", in which case studies of academic websites were reviewed. This time, a pilot study was first conducted on the website of the Institute of Arts of the University of Brasília and, for analogy purposes, a survey was conducted on the website of the Postgraduate Programme in Communication of the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia. Therefore, a case study of the website of the University of Brasília was conducted as the focus of the research. For methodological purposes, we used a quantitative and qualitative questionnaire derived from the tool Meu Website de Notícias (Cruz, 2015). This tool was adapted for use on university websites and labelled the Questionnaire for University Websites (“QWU”). The QWU was categorised into six main factors, namely: 1) About the user; 2) Ease of use (efficiency and effectiveness); 3) Visual appropriateness; 4) Identification; 5) Motivation; and 6) Feedback. As a further methodological approach, a qualitative study was conducted in the form of a semi-structured interview with the designers of the website of the University of Brasília. The results of these studies show the effectiveness of the QWU tool for analysing the experience of university website users. The case study shows the need to improve the University of Brasília website in the midst of developing platforms and trying to improve it in this sense. Finally, it is expected that the investigation can stimulate other research related to websites, especially academic ones, and help researchers achieve their goals.

  • Brazilian design, as an institution imported from European models, perpetuates itself in a eurocentric logic that excludes other knowledges and ontologies, whether in its paradigms or in its processes and aesthetics. Understanding the discipline and the possibilities of what it can become, as a theory and practice contextualized in our territory and from a decolonial perspective, is a necessity for the search for an autonomous design, capable of contributing to the construction of a more egalitarian nation, structured on a deep understanding of its local specificities. Thus, based on the understanding of the plurality of universes that occupy our territory, there is a proposal to construct an afro-centered design, built upon black epistemologies and their bodies-subjects.

  • This research explores the concept of identity in urban spaces, focusing on the perspective of graphic design in the cities of Havana and Brasília. The relationship between graphic design and the city can be analyzed from various angles. In this study, I will approach it from the viewpoint of creating a design product, considering the influence of cultural phenomena on graphic style, and exploring the role of urban imagination in creative processes. A semiotic analysis of the urban context will be conducted to understand the communication chain among space, designer, and society in the professional practice of graphic design. The research aims to analyze graphic solutions in both cities, establishing a parallel between their approaches to design and communication within urban environments. In addition to gathering professional works, a photographic portfolio will be created, referencing both cities, allowing for comparisons of similarities and differences in local visual aesthetics. The significance of this project lies in the opportunity to comprehend how graphic design, through semiotics, can serve as the voice of a style, representing a communicative logic that defines not merely a visual identity but also a way of perceiving the world shaped by urban contexts.

  • Accessibility technologies to tangible and intangible social goods are instruments of inclusion. The research seeks to understand whether the visuality of digital assistive resources created for people with hearing and visual disabilities favors the perception of the other, different from youtself. From a critical-reflexive analytical approach, the personalized display of these technologies is questioned in the guarantee of individual rights, disconnected from the notion of the disabled person as a social group. Notes are made about the role and responsibility of the designer when creating assistive resources, in the contexto of diversity, citizenship and democracy. Studies on personalization and user experience design join those of inclusive design to support the reflection. The research method was the literature review and, in one of the topics, a systematic review with bibliometric analysis. The research results show that resolve the individual problem does not necessarily make a collective issue visible. And, in this sense, personalizing, despite its advantages regarding inclusion, reduces and hides social complexities. It was seen that collective solutions that create a common connection, but consider the differences, can contribute to citizen practice in a democracy. It was also concluded that the academy, in recent years, has been looking at inclusive design with a focus on the medical and non-social model and, also, on consumption and not on citizenship.

  • This dissertation aims to establish an overview of the global context of Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) related to Computational Design and Additive Manufacturing, highlighting the productions and challenges related to the scope of the Circular Economy. It is intended, with such emphasis, to contribute to the systematization and identification of research fronts, trends, and innovations for a sustainable future in Computational Design and 3D Printing. Methods and techniques of technological prospecting, specifically, the mapping of articles and patents from data and text mining were applied. The study identified seventeen scientific and technological development themes and a set of imagined future scenarios. The results demonstrate that despite the recent significant growth of technologies and discoveries in Computational Design applied to Additive Manufacturing, there is still little evidence of initiatives that consider the Circular Economy as a central point, which increases the probability of environmental impacts in the short and medium term.
