  • This research's object of study is the organization of archival information in the Federal Judiciary in the digital era, focusing on the higher courts and the National Council of Justice, the highest institutions of that Power.. From this perspective, the aim was to identify and measure the level of organization of digital archival record in the institutions of the Federal Judiciary. To this end, a systematic literature review was used as the research method, with the aim of clearly explaining the stages of the research, using standardized and verifiable techniques; at this stage, examples of maturity level models in digital record management were researched in the specialized literature and, based on the analysis of this bibliography, a new maturity measurement model was proposed for the management of digital archival records in the institutions of the Federal Judiciary, complemented by the submission of a structured questionnaire to obtain answers in order to fill in the gaps left by the literature review. In order to fulfill the research objective, some of the basic concepts in the field of archivology are revisited in an analytical manner. The main aspects related to digital archival records, archival information, the functions of contemporary archivology, record management policies and the organization of archival information are examined. Aspects related to the management and preservation of digital archival records in the face of the new paradigm of digital preservation are also analyzed. An explanatory overview was given of the institutions of the Federal Judiciary, their main activities and their constitutional functions. Finally, an analysis of the level of maturity in the management of digital archival records of the institutions of the Federal Judiciary was carried out, based on the creation of a model capable of measuring this level of maturity, together with an analysis of the responses sent in by the institutions in response to the questionnaire applied. After this investigative journey, the results presented corroborate the initial impressions of the research into the organization of archival information in the Federal Judiciary in the digital age and show that the institutions of this branch are at a basic level in terms of the organization of digital archival records and that they need to improve in order to meet the principles listed by the functions of contemporary archivology.

  • Sérgio Camargo's management at Fundação Cultural Palmares is marked by controversial speeches and attitudes, and attacks on black movements. Among its actions, the creation of the “Shame Collection”, with books called “Marxist”, in 2021, weakened the institution and its library. The space provoked adverse reactions and, in this sense, the question arises: what were the political/social implications for such an initiative and what were the positions and movements of institutions related to the event, such as the Conselho Regional de Biblioteconomia da 6ª Região (CRB-6), the Conselho Federal de Biblioteconomia (CFB), the Federação Brasileira de Associações de Bibliotecários, Cientistas de Informação e Instituições (FEBAB), black movements, the media and specific actors present in the creation of this space. It is based on the hypothesis that the creation of the “Shame Collection” space highlights that the book is a symbolic representation of what one can, what one wants, what one does not want and what one cannot represent or defend. In other words, this object is attributed with intentions that corroborate, deviate or dispute the initial function or intentionality. Both the book (unit) and the collection (set) are translations of the hybridity present in the political dimension of the institution. The objective of the research is to investigate the course(s) of action of the composition of the “Shame Collection” space, its deviations, controversies and translations that express the intentionality attributed to the book as an object of political actions, having on the horizon assumptions that they favor the study of the relationships between the book, the collection and other non-human actors with human actors – in a word, with hybrids – in the context of the Fundação Cultural Palmares. The research is justified by the nature of the Fundação Cultural Palmares and its instrument for preserving and disseminating knowledge from black and Afro-Brazilian communities, the Oliveira Silveira Library, which contributes to the fight against racism. The methodology is qualitative and exploratory, and relies on (i) bibliographical survey, for the construction of (ii) literature review, (iii) documentary research and (iv) semi-structured interviews with employees of the Fundação Cultural Palmares, members of the movements and/or black collectives, to map the network of associations in the “Shame collection” space and prepare (v) logbook, with support from the heuristic resource of (vi) Actor-Network Theory. As a result, it was identified that the creation of the “Shame Collection” represents a form of ideological domination and regulation of the bibliographic material from the Fundação Cultural Palmares, and is configured as an attack and disrespect to the institution's history. Finally, it is highlighted that the Fundação Cultural Palmares cannot be at the mercy of political clashes between left and right, because its role in the formation of anti-racist public policies and the fight for racial equality goes beyond these political positions and, furthermore, that the decisions taken in relation to the institution's library collection, they must be based on the Collection Development Policy.

  • On October 4th, 2018, the Central Library of the University of Brasília (BCE/UnB) published a note informing the proposed damage of books in its human rights’ collection. This biblioclast situation generated several repercussions and culminated in the creation of the BCE/UnB Human Rights Space. Assuming that the strength of the book, in the physicalist tradition of information science, has been imposed in the area through a type of “authority argument” – and valuing the study of the book only as “support of recorded information” or “record” –, it is argued that alternative conceptions in the area, such as neodocumentation, have been constructing an “argument’s authority” about the existence of other dimensions of the book “beyond information”. Therefore, objectively, the powerless strength of the multidimensionality of the book's materiality is demonstrated through an analysis of the networks that culminated in the creation of the BCE/UnB Human Rights Space. To this end, the literature review method was used on the book’s materiality, and the heuristic resource of the Actor-Network Theory (ANT) was used to analyze the network in question, applying semi-structured interviews with actors who were inserted in this context. The results indicate that the book is a strong hybrid non-human actor in our society, and its strength without force is expressed in the multidimensionality of its materiality. Possible dimensions of the book are proposed, and the possible agencies of the network corroborate this strength without force of the book and how human and non-human actors make the social.

  • The dissertation investigates the informational processes that were built from the art collections seized in eleven phases of the so-called "Operação Lava Jato", between 2014 and 2024, which are, with the exception of one, in the custody of the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba/PR. The research first analyzes the possible relationships between Visual Arts, Information Science, Museology and Law, highlighting some experiences of musealization of art collections seized in police operations with museum institutions as faithful custodians. Next, "Operação Lava Jato" is contextualized in terms of the phases in which art collections were seized, making it possible to present the works and artists that make up this collection. In the final section, the research focuses on possible sources of information (expert reports, catalogs and other technical information about the collection) drawn from the construction of this peculiar collection of works, formed in the context of different criminal court cases. The methodology adopted is descriptive and exploratory, with a qualitative approach. It makes use of a case study supported by specific literature on the subject, as well as research and work on the musealization of collections, which culminated in a literature review and documentary analysis that mobilized a wide range of documents drawn from the most diverse sources (publicly accessible court documents, administrative documents, news and journalistic articles, among others), in order to highlight the challenges faced by museums in general, and by the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in particular, in the process of musealizing works of this nature.

  • This thesis analyses the Brazilian information field through its interface with Folklore, with the aim of understanding the documentary practices forged by folklorists between 1913 and 1965. To this end, it examines folklore research and documentation protocols, with the aim of identifying and analysing documentary practices based on the production of folklore surveys, manuals and collections. The aim is to demonstrate how folklorists, in their quest to have folklore recognised as scientific, created patterns of collections based on networks manifested in scientific societies, institutes and a national campaign. The specific objectives are: I - to map the trends of knowledge classified as Folklore at an international level, with an emphasis on identifying the intellectuals who were part of the field of information between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century; II - to identify the documentary practices that shaped institutions and networks around the concept of Folklore in Brazil, based on the production of surveys, collection manuals and collections organised by intellectuals in the first decades of the 20th century; III - to analyse the information resources used by some folklorists in the processes of institutionalising Folklore, based on the creation of bodies and instruments responsible for documenting information in Brazil; and IV- to examine the conditions of possibility that contributed to the production of a folklore collection manual, its recording methods and its impact on the construction of bibliographies, museums, archives and libraries. The research, which is qualitative, descriptive and analytical, is based on the theoreticalmethodological framework of sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, based on his model of praxeological knowledge. Based on a multi-sited ethnography of documents and the indicative paradigm, the research concluded that survey instruments and collection manuals were one of the techniques mobilised with the aim of providing scientific objectivity to a cultural reality classified as Folklore. This analysis revealed the diversity of interpretations attributed to the term, and various perspectives on its definition. resulting in a broad and contextualised understanding, both on an international and national scale. As an instrument created with international references, its elaboration and execution were marked by moral and cultural values that maintained the status quo of domination over a group labelled as popular. In their experiences in the field of information, folklorists were not only spokespeople and defenders of the institutionalisation of folklore, but also mobilised certain documentation practices as an artifice of legitimacy for scientific practice.

  • The different areas in which memories are created make it possible to analyze their many expressions, which must be interrogated and interpreted in order to reveal themselves as an area of study. The incentive for this research is to observe the expression of Organizational Memory from an archival perspective, with the aim of analyzing, in national and international literature, within the scope of Information Science and Archivology, the concepts, characteristics and functions of Organizational Memory and archival memory. The hypothesis of this work was based on the interconnection between the memories under discussion and that archival memory can be conceptualized on the basis of practices and the theoretical-methodological contribution of Archival Science. This research is based on a qualitative approach, conducted using the documentary research method and content analysis, where categories were established that verified interactions. The categories made it possible to identify the interfaces between Organizational Memory and archival memory. Through the means of retention and maintenance of MO – specific objectives – it made it possible to verify the interface. Through the conceptual triangle, elements of knowledge were listed for the concept of archival memory. Therefore, as a result of this research, we intend to present the dialogue with Organizational Memory and contribute to the maturation of the concept of archival memory, to appear in the Archivology literature, having the right to a place in the conceptual framework.

  •  Information and knowledge are valuable resources in today's economy and are crucial for organisations of all kinds. Knowledge work is work that involves information as input and product, that processes information in order to produce new information and knowledge, incorporating it into processes, products and services and informing decisions at various levels. It is an integrated process, involving various elements of the complex network in which organisations consist of. No agent produces knowledge alone, it will always depend on the connections in the network that is the organisation, and the process by which this happens is the subject of Knowledge Management (KM) which, however, still adopts a functionalist perspective, that does not properly consider human and social aspects, which limits its effectiveness. The research presented here emphasises such aspects and investigates what underlies the behaviour of individuals, what is the frame of orientation through which groups attribute meaning to the environment and build their practical actions. The research adopts the premise that the action of workers in knowledge processes is based on a set of informational practices, adopting the social perspective of Information Science (IS) that understands informational phenomena as a result of the reciprocal influence between the group and the individual. The latter, more than an information user, is an informational subject, who acts in society and, in acting, shapes the group's worldview and its way of acting, while being shaped by the same group. Understanding what guides informational practices in knowledge work offers ways to deal with human and social factors in the organisational environment, supporting KM actions. The documentary method, in a reconstructive social research approach, through the analysis of focus groups, was used to study information practices in knowledge work in an organisational environment. From the analysis of five empirical cases in the Brazilian federal public sector, the informational practices of these groups are highlighted and what constitute the reference frame that guides them is identified. In this way, typical elements that can be repeated in other contexts are pointed out. The research concludes that the socio-interactionist approach of information practices offers new lenses for understanding information phenomena of knowledge work in organisations, which enriches KM perspectives. A protocol for application of the method by researchers in other settings was developed as a byproduct of the experience. Future research possibilities based on this work include expanding the scope of application and analysing more cases.

  • This thesis is a research on the role of collaborators of The National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute (SPHAN) in its first decades. Created in 1937, SPHAN centralized the national preservationist practices. Counting on the cooperation of some modernist intellectuals, the institute concentrated and coordinated mapping, description and preservation of national heritage in compliance to Decree-Law no. 25/1937, which rules the practices of registering heritage. In this preservationist scenario, the institution counted on its agents – deemed as collaborators – to protect such heritage. The collaborators of SPHAN, an acknowledged work during the management of Rodrigo Melo Franco de Andrade, worked in areas such as description of heritage, architectonic registering, listing of collections and creation of new museums. This thesis focuses on the latter area by investigating the role of some of these collaborators in the formation of museum collections. The analyses for this research was held in three museums created in the state of Minas GeraisMuseu da Inconfidência (Museum of the Inconfidencia), 1944; Museu do Ouro (The Museum of Gold), 1946; and Museu do Diamante (The Museum of Diamonds), 1954, embracing the time period between the decades of 1940 and 1950. The aim of this thesis is to track the role of these collaborators in face of the process of musealization and formation of collections, observing their individual and institutional modus operandi. Considering that the institutional memory of SPHAN (currently addressed as IPHAN) built over the last eight decades valued the participation of notorious intellectuals between the decades of 1930 and 140, the aim is to understand how the work of these “other” agents responsible for making museum collections has contributed to a new museum perspective in the country.

  • This thesis investigates the influence of modernity discourse on archival science, especially regarding the conceptions of space and time, and how these dimensions are deeply integrated into archival thinking. The study aims to highlight this integration and propose theoretical-epistemological adaptations that resonate with the complexity of contemporaneity. The research's methodological approach is qualitative and exploratory-descriptive, relying on a comprehensive bibliographic survey. It adopts the method of cross-history, articulating archaeological, hermeneutic, and epistemological dimensions, to enable a multifaceted analysis of archival science, highlighting the intersections between archival knowledge and the conceptions of space and time. The thesis's findings demonstrate that the metanarratives underpinning modern archival discourse, such as the sanctity of evidence, provenance, the records lifecycle, the organic nature of records, and hierarchy in records and their descriptions, have intensely absorbed the principles of modern science, received influences from the modern state, as well as from modern conceptions of space and time. Furthermore, the research notes that the demands of contemporaneity, characterized by technological advances and fluid social changes, challenge the established archival foundations, requiring a critical review and update. To this end, the thesis identifies and discusses emerging theoretical frameworks and archival practices adherent to the spatio-temporal conception and contemporary reality. Among these new approaches are emphasized the archival multiverse, the records continuum, a renewed conception of the record, the rediscovery of provenance, archival autonomy, participatory archives, community archives, and a revision of archival description. The research conclusion emphasizes the necessity for archival science that, grounded in a robust and contemporary theoretical framework, can embrace the complex dynamics of both present and future, fostering an archival practice that is critical, reflective, and in sync with the ongoing transformations of society and technology. The thesis aims to represent a significant step forward for the advancement of Brazilian archival science, suggesting paths for the renewal of theoretical and methodological foundations in response to the demands of the contemporary era.

  • There are challenges faced in the field of auditing that have already been studied and exposed in the literature, with direct consequences on the auditor's daily life. This research work proposes, as main objective, an Information Architecture for Government Internal Audit, in the light of Distributed Records Technology (DLT), which enables an audit environment with data security, integrity and transparency. The specific objectives are: i) to identify components of the proposed information architecture; ii) correlate scientific models with the proposed information architecture; and iii) describe the conceptual integration of Distributed Records Technology to the proposed information architecture. The research proposal appropriates the theoretical framework of Information Science and its interdisciplinarity to integrate the disciplines of Government Auditing and Information Technology to achieve the objectives. The research is exploratory, has practical purposes and a qualitative approach. The exploratory bibliographic survey constitutes the procedure for preparing the literature review. Data collection took place through structured interviews with auditors. The analysis of results is supported by statistical elements sedimented in the literature, such as Cronbach's Alpha, Likert Scale, histograms and non-parametric methods, such as Mann-Whitney and Chi-Square, allowing subsidies for the use of the Flexible Systems Methodology for the construction of conceptual models. The following findings in the field of Information Organization stand out: i) need for the discipline of Information Organization based on information classification; and ii) metadata must be participatory elements in the process of
identification, description and retrieval of audit work papers. Regarding Information Security: i) transparency of information must be exercised, obeying due legal criteria; and ii) there is no Information Management System that guarantees transparency, that allows tracking of information, that offers security to the auditing process and to the auditor and that mitigates data integrity risks. Related to Information System Planning, the Audit Information Management System must: i) ensure inviolability and traceability of information; ii) be rigidly tied to business processes and rules; and iii) operate in compliance with legal aspects. As a result, the Information Architecture Model for Governmental Internal Audit (M2AI-G) is proposed, structured in three layers, seven pillars and an interface. The proposed model equates problems related to data security, integrity and transparency, in addition to satisfying the needs of auditors. It supports the organization of information in areas of Governmental Internal Audit.

  • Government open data initiatives aim to increase transparency government, reduce corruption and engage civil society in government decision-making government, making data collected by federal, state and municipal, to the public for free use, reuse and redistribution. In Brazil, Law No. 12,527, of 2011, known as the Access to Information Law and Decree nº 8,777, of 2016, which established the Open Data Policy of the Federal Executive Branch are legal instruments that guide and institutionalize open government actions in the country. Linked to the Ministry of Education - MEC, federal universities are subject to compliance with the Open Data Policy of the Federal government; In this sense, the main objective of this research is to analyze the opening of data from Brazilian federal university libraries, considering what prescribes open government initiatives and the provisions of current Brazilian legislation, using as a parameter of performance indicators for libraries modified by the ISO standard 11620:2014. The methodology was divided into two stages, the first with the quantitative and  qualitative analysis of the data made available by the libraries in the Data Monitoring Panel Open and on the Brazilian Open Data Portal; in the second stage, the questionnaire was applied as a data collection instrument, with the research universe being the 69 universities Federal agencies linked to the MEC. Analysis of the collected data reveals that the majority of Brazilian federal universities do not include in their Open Data Plans and in the opening of their data, data about their libraries, which highlights the non-compliance with the provisions of manual of good practices prepared by the Comptroller General of the Union and the low representativeness of libraries in these important sources of information for society. The responses to the questionnaire showed that the libraries collected data, produced reports and use their own mechanisms for disseminating their results, but their participation in open data activity within the institution is still limited, having great potential to expand its involvement in promoting transparency and access to information within of the institution.

  • This work addresses the topic of digital preservation, which has gained critical relevance in the era of digital information, necessitating a modernization of traditional practices and concepts in record-keeping. Technological obsolescence poses a particular challenge, jeopardizing the integrity and authenticity of digital objects. The ISO 16363 standard emerges as a significant regulatory mechanism, establishing stringent criteria for the auditing and certification of trustworthy digital repositories. Implementing this standard in digital preservation repository software has the potential to significantly elevate security and compliance standards, thereby positively influencing user trust and encouraging broader system adoption. The primary objective of this dissertation was to analyze and propose digital object management requirements for the study and construction of digital object management software in reliable digital preservation environments. This was evidenced through an analysis of the Tainacan software, in relation to the evaluated items, which demonstrated shortcomings in the selected criteria, emphasizing the necessity for enhancements for its qualification as a reliable digital repository. The normative framework of ISO 16363 provides a robust foundation for effective audits and successful certification processes, serving as a robust tool for quality control and governance. Tainacan's eventual compliance with these guidelines could revolutionize digital preservation and access practices. In addition to extending its applicability, this could benefit a wide range of stakeholders, including academics and institutions, who are focused on efficient preservation and enduring access to digital data and objects.

  • Considering new approaches in archival description, highlighted by the International Council on Archives' (ICA) adoption of the semantic web through the development of the conceptual data model Records in Contexts (RiC), the research addresses the lack of systematization in studies on the benefits that such technological innovation offers to archives, as well as the introduction of emerging concepts such as multidimensional description and an expanded view of the principle of provenance. The study is dedicated to the analysis and systematization of both the significant updates in archival description and the ecosystem of semantic technologies incorporated into the RiC model, including the Entity-Relationship (ER) model, the semantic web itself, and Linked Open Data, along with their respective standards and protocols. The state of the art of the RiC model's application in international initiatives is also investigated. Through a qualitative and exploratory approach, employing techniques such as content analysis and the application of questionnaires, it is observed that although the RiC model presents challenges in implementation when compared to the ICA's traditional description standards, and requires new qualifications for archivists and professionals in the field, it provides substantial advantages for the structuring of new 'entities' and the mapping of their interrelationships. In the realm of digital documents, the RiC emerges as a potent technology that enhances the preservation of contexts inherent to the production, maintenance, and use of archives, thereby strengthening access and expanding the possibilities for the use and reuse of archival data.

  • Technological innovations impact the way institutions produce and treat records. Proper management of digital records is a necessary condition to ensure economy, transparency and effective support for administrative procedures in government actions. In this digital records production scenario, the aim is to analyze how record management has been applied and the procedures and strategies that may contribute to its effective application in digital records produced by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, through the Electronic Information System – SEI. The growth of the registration of information in digital records and the right of access to information confer relevance on researches that deal with the digital records management. A qualitative descriptive research method was used, through a case study supported by an interpretative analysis of organizational phenomena, in order to allow a deeper understanding of the organization, in relation to the digital records management. The theoretical basis explored concepts of Archival Science and Information Science to substantiate the questions addressed in this text. The conclusion presents the current panorama of digital records in the Brazilian Federal Public Administration.

  • Nowadays, we are experiencing phenomena of virtualization and the ephemerality of information, which will bring new configurations to the organization of work and the accumulation of knowledge in institutions. Digital preservation practices in the institutions' collections must be carefully observed, especially concerning the preservation of the memory of present events, which is primarily constructed in a virtual environment, to ensure the recovery of information and the longevity of institutional memory. Digital preservation needs to be constantly questioned due to the quick technological obsolescence and to the challenges related to selection and preservation methods. From this perspective, memory centers emerge as strategic entities for institutions in terms of preserving institutional memory. The main objective of this research is to reflect on the preservation of institutional memory, relating it to the use of information and communication technologies in digital archival documents in institutional memory centers, based on the assumption that technologies help in the process of preserving institutional memory. This research primarily utilizes a qualitative, exploratory approach, with a literature review as the method. This article presents reflections on the preservation of institutional memory in the digital environment, particularly in relation to Memory Centers, mainly through the proper use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The universe of the research is the Network of Marist Memory Centers, from which the sample of units to be analyzed was drawn.

  • The need to know has been a constant in society since ancient times. Its intensity has increased inversely proportional to the spaces of time in which evidence of availability of information for the construction of knowledge is noticed. There was a time when it was the privilege of few to access content capable of generating a knowledge construct. Nowadays, given the evolution of society that broke barriers and allowed universal access to information niches, scientific or not, the construction of knowledge has proven to be more dynamic and facilitated by various means and tools that have made information a strategic resource. able to be made available instantly and without physical boundaries. The present work addresses the use of digital platforms for the dissemination of scientific production, periodicals, archival documents and historical and cultural imagery in a broad way, contributing to the construction of knowledge. Addresses Information Management as a means of boosting the intellectual assets of institutions today, representing their values to society. In this context, a public institution is presented as a cutout to highlight Information Architecture as a factor of great importance to enable the sharing of informational objects, guaranteeing the completeness and authenticity of its contents, based on the use of Distributed Ledger Technology. The concepts of the Open Access Movement are used, covering the ways that characterize the form of content availability (Green and Gold), Information Architecture, Information Management and Blockchain as Distributed Ledger Technology. It’s this democratization of information that we seek to point out as necessary for characterizing informational synergy in the construction of knowledge. The use of open source software to delimit the experience of a shared informational management attests to a wider range of communication in society by providing more accessible means for public producers and consumers of information. The conceptual model proposed in this research points to the possibility of using a Distributed Ledger Technology systems as a way to guarantee the integrity of the document flow and emerges as a solution for the authenticity and preservation of the contents of repositories to be made available to society. The democratization of information emerges as a proposal for informational synergy capable of transcending the limits of conservative institutions and enabling the construction of broader knowledge.

  • Facing the communication difficulties faced by people without orality (oral part or spoken use of a language), the possibility of simulating real world models in a computational way capable of reproducing or emulating human characteristics, arise as a real possibility to support the need to communicate. In this context, this research proposes the development of a multimodal information architecture for oral communication using concepts applied in semiotics associated with artificial intelligence. This architecture proposes to attribute to the meaning a signifier that is individual and unconventional, for the production of computer-generated speech. In this way, it is believed that a person may be able to express information, having as primary source only a mental association. The results indicate that this informational architecture promoted a significant reduction of noise in the communication process between sender and receiver.

  • At the end of 2019, humanity was hit by a health crisis of global proportions, which brought immense health challenges, but also highlighted informational problems, such as the huge amount of problematic content that began to circulate about the coronavirus, especially on the Internet. In addition, in Brazil, there was strong politicization around issues related to the pandemic. Given this reality, the research aims to investigate, within the scope of online social networks, information practices in relation to content about the Covid-19 pandemic, with special attention to the ways in which phenomena such as infodemic, disinformation and post-truth impacted internet users, in a context of high political polarization. It is a study of information users supported by the social paradigm and the perspective of informationa practices. To achieve this goal, four public Facebook groups were followed for 17 months using non-participant observational netnography. Through the application of Content Analysis, Critical Discourse Analysis and Connected Concept Analysis, the results showed high polarization between individuals and considerable impact of ideas propagated by the Federal Government in the perception of Internet users. These findings show that, in Brazil, the health emergency was seen more as a political problem than, properly speaking, a public health problem.

  • Assertiveness and effectiveness of a set actions in an information context depends on the subject ability to produce and adapt representations about reality. The process of building these representational models begins with the proper combination of learning methods and the selection of what is presented to this subject, whom perception capacity is limited. With regard to machine learning, it appears that Computer Science historically adhered to the syntax of the relations between Computational Subject and Object of analysis: it produces algorithms for calculating incidence and proximity between the properties of texts, images, sounds and others perceptible forms of manifestation. The following work aims to position Multimodal Information Architecture as the counterpart of Information Science in the semantic study of manifestations to be presented to a Computational Subject in its development of an artificial intelligence neural network.

  • In the scientific context, particularly in the area of literature, there was a significant increase in the number of publications, such as noted and commented editions of correspondence and diaries, as well as the development of research aimed at rebuilding the biographical path of writers with the purpose of understanding his work from a chronological, thematic and editorial perspective. This movement seems to be related to the creation of research and documentation centers aimed at preserving literary archives -category of personal archives that comprises the records produced by a particular person, related to civic, cultural and literary activities, as well as their work. Although they are responsible for essential activities of organization, access and use to these collections, most of these institutions mainly cost archives whose holders are male. Seeking to give greater visibility to women's literary archives this thesis seeks to contribute to discussions involving the articulation between these collections, custody institutions and their users. The general hypothesis is that the institutionalization of female literary archives seems to have given more visibility to archival sources about this type of collection, attracting more users to custodian institutions, as well as probable research and production on fund holders. The general objective of the study is to investigate how the institutionalization of female literary archives has contributed to the development of research on the lives and work of the holdersof these collections in Brazil. The universe of research thus understood the female literary files custody by the Instituto Moreira Salles’s Literatura Division and Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa’s Arquivo-Museu de Literatura Brasileira and the analysis corpus consisted of 8 archival funds and the academic productions developed from the access and use of documents from these collections. From a qualitative approach, it was used as a method of documentary research with the purpose of analyzing the custodial history of collections and identifying the productions on the life and work of the holders of the female literary archives, in order to present the profile of the users of these collections and demonstrating the main elements that encourage the search and use of these files. The data collected during the research indicated that from the institutionalization of collections there was an increase in the production of works on the life and work of the writers, demonstrating that access to female literary archives allowed not only the reconstruction of the writers' trajectory, but also the emergence of new aspects about your life and work. Among other aspects, it was concluded that there is a need for a more effective policy for the dissemination of collections, in order to give greater visibility to female literary archives

  • In the last 50 years, technological advances and the formation of large volumes of information have had a transformative impact on organizations. Auditing, an activity that aims to provide confidence in the relationships between an organization's stakeholders, has also undergone changes.
has also undergone changes. The emergence of a new specialty in this field stands out: Information Auditing. In this discipline there is still a lack of a theory on which the operational elements can be based. This lack can lead, for example, to misunderstanding of the phenomena involved and inefficient approaches. The aim of the thesis is to propose guidelines for an Information Audit Theory. The study considered the importance of the auditor knowing the institution and the business under evaluation, so the investigation was carried out based on data from only one type of organization: financial institutions. The subject is discussed from three sources of information: literature related to the subject, perceptions of professionals working in the Audit and content of Audit reports published by Independent Audit firms. In the research trajectory, ideas and trends in auditing are presented. The result is a list of guidelines for an Information Audit Theory, with a suggestion to recognize the relevance of Information Audit to the strategic management of organizations and the need for this activity to be independent of management.

  • Ontology, from the Information Science (CI) perspective and its interaction with the areas of Health and Computer Science (CC), is the means of organizing information to represent the information in the Electronic Patient Record (PEP), sufficient to its location and retrieval when shared on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). The work presents theoretical references on the three areas of knowledge regarding ontology, information organization, PEP and DLT metadata. This is an exploratory, qualitative research that uses the inductive approach method. Technical procedures of bibliographic research with search engines were used to explore and quantify the contributions of the three areas regarding the organization of information, using ontologies. Intensive non-participant direct observation in the field was used to achieve automatic or semi-automatic processes of knowledge acquisition that generate PEP metadata, as well as to identify aspects that favor the interoperability of the information coming from the diversified databases for the subsequent use of the DLT This work proposes to verify the ontology formation from the PEP metadata to be stored in the DLT, in order to locate them in the support of the care provided by health professionals, from the perspective of IC. For that, it used the Ontology Development 101 methodology and the help of the ontology editing tool Protégé (5.5.0) in handling metadata from a volunteer Hospital, sufficient for the unequivocal location of the individual's PEPs eligible for storage in the DLT and recoverable by health professionals for better care.

  • As a result of the development of the Open Access Movement to scientific information, aspects within or related to the scholarly communication framework have demanded greater attention. Research on Open Access Citation Advantage (OACA) and, more recently, on Open Access Altmetrics Advantage (OAAA) has begun to be developed in the field of Information Science, even if not very extensively. Issues associated with scientific communication also tend to be influenced by the specificities of periods of Public Health Emergencies of International Importance, such as the Corona Virus Disease Pandemic (COVID-19), which increased the need for information and accelerated the dynamics of scientific production. The volume of scientific publications, differences between areas of knowledge, the use of preprints for dissemination of discoveries, and the time needed for the evolution of science are points that draw attention concerning the scientific production of COVID-19 and that can be observed from various perspectives. Thus, the present research seeks to identify the dynamics of bibliometric citation impact and altmetrics in articles and preprints on the subject of COVID-19, to bring closer the discussion about the global phenomenon that has affected society from the perspective of Information Science. The development of studies through the application of quantitative bibliometric and altmetric approaches provides significant collaborations for the resolution of health crises since they provide the visualization of the efforts made to produce knowledge aimed at understanding outbreaks caused by diseases. As for the methodological aspect, the research is characterized as quantitative and makes use of descriptive, comparative, and Spearman correlation analyses of data related to a sample of 90,000 publications, 83,477 articles, and 6,523 preprints on COVID-19. Presents results on the observation of the influence of variation between access types (open and closed), access subtypes (bronze, gold, hybrid, green and closed) and publication types on the values of bibliometric and altmetric indicators calculated for citation data, readers/captures in Mendeley and Twitter mentions. It emphasizes that all calculated correlations are characterized as significant, however, no values obtained for Spearman correlation coefficients demonstrate correlations interpreted as weak or perfect.

  • This dissertation studies the objects of the Rui Barbosa Historic House Museum (MCRB) collection that belonged to Maria Augusta Viana Bandeira (1855 – 1948), known by her name after her marriage to Rui Barbosa (1849 – 1923): Maria Augusta Rui Barbosa. We focused our attention on the proposal of a first identification of what would be the “Maria Augusta Rui Barbosa Collection” and particularly on a black silk satin dress with a white print. Therefore, it was necessary to characterize the objects related to Maria Augusta – here treated as a collection, but not understood by the MCRB in this way – as well as to understand Maria Augusta Rui Barbosa herself, considering that the objects belonged to her. In addition to the MCRB collection, photographic records of the iconography of the Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation (FCRB) were also analyzed. Through the dress – and related studies in Rui Barbosa’s biographies, archives, and other primary and secondary information sources – the persona and trajectory of Maria Augusta was composed. The materiality of the dress, its production method and correlation with the fashion of the time were also addressed, treating such aspects as informational foundations. Finally, a preliminary proposal was made by the Maria Augusta Rui Barbosa Collection, which organized the items that probably belonged to her. The objective is to increasingly bring to light the trajectory of this woman, who was a key piece for the construction of one of the most important institutions in the fields of research and museums in Brazil.

  • This master's thesis seeks to understand the Information Regime in George Orwell's 1984. The data survey was based on the concept of Information Regime associated with the content analysis method. The categories found in Orwell's book were: organizations, preferred means and resources, information authorities, and rules. After analyzing the content that concerns the Information Regime, it was found that its goal is constant alteration of the past, through records and manipulation of memories. It was also inferred that the use and manipulation of Memory, History, information, and forgetting is necessary for the realization of the alteration of the past. A contextualization of the early period of the Science field with the life and work of George Orwell was performed. Possible approximations between fiction with Memory, History, Information and Literature were presented. Presented and analyzed the Information Regime in the work 1984, besides exposing the concept itself in relation to the book. It is sought to approach the studies carried out in the field of Information Science to the narrative fiction, as long as there are themes that are pertinent to the field of Information Science.

  • Scientific journals and their respective articles are channels of scientific communication of recognized importance. The quality of these publications can be quantitatively measured, monitored, and evaluated through indicators, traditionally using citation-based bibliometric indicators. However, the use of altmetric indicators allows capturing different ways of measuring academic and social impact of scientific publications. In this context, this research seeks to contribute to the existing debate on the relationships, characteristics, and complementarities of altmetric and bibliometric indicators. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the coverage of data sources and relationships between bibliometric and altmetric indicators within the scope of open access journal portals of Brazilian universities. With a quantitative and descriptive approach, has been made the analysis of citation coverage and indexing of articles in the bibliographic data sources Crossref, Scopus and Web of Science, as well as the coverage and mentions of articles in the altmetric data sources Mendeley, Twitter, Facebook, viewing and downloading articles from the portals. In addition, correlations are analyzed between bibliometric and altmetric indicators and between them, for all articles, in different areas of knowledge, and according to the year of publication of the article. The results of the analyzes showed that the citation and indexing coverage of journals and articles in the Crossref data source, in general, are higher, indicating that this source has great potential for monitoring and evaluating science, especially in countries with production underrepresented in international comercials databases. Regarding the coverage of altmetric sources, Mendeley readers were highlighted, and their relevance to certain areas of knowledge, such as Life Sciences. Mendeley presented the highest correlations with the citation data, in the different sources, indicating that this media has a greater capacity to predict citations, and that altmetric indicators from this source are less complementary to the bibliometric ones, and can be glimpsed as alternatives for some areas with less international insertion. Altmetric indicators from the social media Twitter and Facebook have shown to have little or no influence on citations of articles within the scope of journal portals from Brazilian open access universities, suggesting that there is low overlapping of citation indicators, with the results being aligned with the arguments that argue that such indicators are complementary. The temporal relationships between the analyzed altmetric and citation indicators, unlike other studies, were close to zero. The coverage and correlations found indicate that there are differences in academic practices between the areas of knowledge, therefore, there are different potentialities of the indicators for monitoring and evaluating science in each one of these areas. From these results, it is concluded that new data sources, such as Crossref (citation) and Mendeley (altmetric) are very promising for the evaluation of science published in journal portals. The use of altmetric indicators from other social media deserves to be better understood for their effective use in monitoring and evaluating science, but they prove to be a complementary type of metric to citations. Finally, the importance of the science developed in Brazil and the portals of journals managed by universities in the country are highlighted, with the need for a greater presence of these in social media and better organization and description of data, journals and articles indexed by them, in data sources with great potential, such as Crossref.

  • The central theme of this research is focused on current research information systems, known by the acronym CRIS, which record information from each stage of the research activity, allowing to know the effort of a country in financing its science, due to their singular features to integrate information on projects, researchers, publications, research data, research infrastructures, being the most used model for this purpose. The general objective is to review the history of Brazil to explore the antecedents of the constitution of scientific research agents, such as universities, research institutions, funding agencies, researchers and government actions, as well as the information systems designed to record the resulting research activities. This research is exploratory given the absence of studies based on the themes presented, particularly in terms of research information systems. The results of the studies place us in front of an innovative past, when Brazil launched, in the 1970s, a research information system, named CAPESQ, which was unexpectedly taken out of circulation. Facts, arguments, and explanations are supported by statistical data extracted from official sources on the subject in question, by government archive material and by publications – such as theses, dissertations, journal articles, research reports and books – some of them based on historical archival material. It concludes that Brazil has developed several research monitoring systems, all of them interrupted due to lack of policies and support for their continuity, and that the future lies in systems such as Current Research Information Systems (CRIS).

  • This thesis analyzes archiving as a fundamental process of creating private photographic collections. The thesis defended is that the Photodocumentation, through the identification of the genesis in the Cycle of Information, makes it possible to recompose the archival organicity of a collection. The general objective is to investigate the genesis of photographic documents and their relationship with organicity. The empirical basis is the research instrument Catalog of Photographs from the Mário de Andrade Archive (IEB, 1988). The route methodological includes describing the projects for organizing the file photographic work, carried out after the institutionalization of the collection, and which resulted in the preparation of that catalogue. Describe the structure of the cited research instrument. Define documentary species and categories information found in the photographic archive of MA. associate the species documents to informational categories contextualizing the dossiers photographs through the Information Cycle. • It is evident the evolution of the role of the Brazilian public university as an increasingly relevant protagonist of the National Innovation System. The knowledge produced by these institutions has been responsible for formulating national strategies for economic and social development, driving technological advances that lead to innovation. Therefore, it becomes relevant the understanding of how the phenomenon of "innovation" manifests itself in the university environment and how it can be dimensioned, measured and evaluated, especially in the context of public institutions that need to account for the resources invested in society. It is assumed that innovation is a complex phenomenon and its measurement has significant limitations in university organizations, which can not be performed solely with traditional indicators, often used to measure innovation carried out by the productive sector. In this context, the general objective of this thesis is to analyze the perception of managers linked to innovation in Brazilian public universities on the object “innovation”, in order to support the proposition of a model capable of adding dimensions and indicators for its measurement. The methodological course, of exploratory study and qualitative nature, begins with the elaboration of a deep theoretical-conceptual framework on the subject, in which the evolution of the conceptualization of innovation and its relationship with the Brazilian university was evidenced, especially after the regulation of the ST&I Legal Framework. To achieve the proposed objective, it was chosen to apply mixed techniques (qualiquantitative approach), involving a broad Systematic Review of Literature, plus bibliometric studies, combined with the purpose of seeking an understanding of the managers’ perception [Pro-rectors and executive directors of Innovation Agencies] regarding the manifestation of this phenomenon in the context of academia. There were selected 11 managers who deal with the innovation ecosystem of federal and state universities. The textual data (interviews) were analyzed using Content Analysis techniques, supported by IRAMUTEQ and ATLAS.ti software, which helped in the process of automating some lexical analyses, enabling the integration of qualitative and quantitative levels (statistics) in the investigation, further qualifying the research results. With the systematization of public managers' perceptions together with the analysis of the innovation indicators identified in the literature, a model proposal that brings together 9 (nine) dimensions of innovation for public universities was reached, namely: : i) human potential; ii) financial resources; iii) management practices; iv) teaching, research and extension; v) partnerships; vi) transfer of knowledge and intellectual property; vii) entrepreneurial capacity; viii) social impact; and ix) environmental impact. As a proposal for future research, it is suggested to study the application of the suggested dimensions, seeking to complement and improve the metrics from innovation maturity models, such as the IRL (Innovation Readiness Level) to measure certain types of innovation. that occur in the broad context of universities.

  • It presents a taxonomy model focused on the organization and retrieval of information to support the decision-making process of citizen participation in health conferences. In the scope of the Unified Health System (SUS), conferences are the initial stage of the governmental health planning process. Information Science and, in particular, documentary languages such as taxonomy, are constituted as models of organization and representation of information from documentary accumulated masses, facilitating the retrieval of information without necessarily resorting to the examination of all documents. To facilitate the retrieval of relevant information on government health planning for the decision-making process of citizen participation in health conferences, a taxonomy model was elaborated, with a qualitative and retrospective methodology developed in three stages: 1) Selection of sources of bibliographic information and documents related to the domain of governmental health planning within the scope of the SUS; 2) Systematization of decision-making process’ flow of citizen participation in government health planning; and 3) Elaboration of the taxonomy model. As a result, the sources of bibliographic information from the two most cited authors were listed, namely Carlos Matus and Mario Testa, and documentary information, which are the documents produced for and by the 15th National Health Conference and the planning and management instruments of the SUS and budget at the federal level. Based on the bibliographic research, the flow of the decision-making process of citizen participation in health conferences was systematized, considering governmental health planning as the totality in which the conferences are inserted. Twelve general terms were defined, based on the themes and thematic axes guiding the debates of the 8th to 16th National Health Conference, namely: 1) Access to health actions and services; 2) Science and technology in health; 3) Social control; 4) Right to health; 5) Unified Health System’ Financing; 6) Unified Health System’ Management; 7) Information and communication in health; 8) Models of integral health care; 9) Community participation; 10) Public health policies; 11) Public-private relationship; and 12) Health work and education, in which 820 terms were ordered in up to five hierarchical levels, systematized in a taxonomy model in list format and with cardinal numerals of the decimal system indicating their position in the structure.

  • The research comes with a reflection on the moment in which society lives with the predominant use of the internet as a means of communication, globalization and the consequent continuous increase of information. In this scenario, fake news, disinformation and post-truth phenomena also arise, which greatly impact people's lives and the decisions to be made. Hence the need to seek ways to develop critical and reflective thinking in the individual, especially in the learning process. We sought to analyze the incidence of metaliteracy and metacognition in informational behavior in the continuing education of teachers at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Brasília (IFB). Therefore, through a literature review, the concepts of information literacy (IL), metaliteracy, metacognition, reflective thinking and teacher training are reviewed. Metaliteracy was conceived as a strategy that expands IL by recognizing that the student is also a consumer, producer and disseminator of information in collaborative spaces, with broad competencies, through interaction with other literacies and emerging technologies. The continuing education of teachers is carried out throughout their professional trajectory in the teacher's work environment, with the possibility of creating spaces for reflection and updating of teaching activities. The methodological approach of this investigation is empirical with the use of quantitative-qualitative techniques and as a procedure the adoption of a case study. Data collection is carried out using two instruments: a questionnaire and an interview with the Online Focus Group (GFO). The questionnaire was sent to professors working at the IFB on all campuses and received 110 responses; the interview with the GFO took place with seven professors from four different campuses. Results from both the GFO and the questionnaire show that teachers improve their ability to assess the value of information, reflect on the complexity of tasks, and develop strategies to facilitate learning. In addition, they positively perceive activities related to informational behavior. They claim that when they recognize gaps in knowledge, they seek help from experts. Thus, it is observed that there are indications of metacognitive and metaliteracy strategies in the informational behavior of teachers, but these need to be methodically applied in the learning process, especially those related to the learning objectives of metaliteracy. With this, it was evidenced that the participants would be more successful in their training if they applied practices of metaliteracy and metacognition, since these encourage the use, search and sharing of information in a reflective and collaborative way, which can enhance the process. of learning in continuing in-service training

  • Information Age or Silicon Age or Digital Age are terms often used to designate technological advances arising from the Third Industrial Revolution with a focus on the diffusion of a cyberspace, as a means of communication instrumentalized by computer science and the Internet. It is in this context that people from all over the world, including those with disabilities, are interconnected, sharing information, disseminating impressions, and spreading forms of culture and knowledge. Despite some achievements in recent years, people with some kind of disability around the world continue to face numerous barriers to their full inclusion and participation in the lives of their communities. Exercising the right of access to information, considered one of the fundamental human rights, enshrined in laws in most countries, still seems like a utopia for people of disability. The hypothesis of the study is that, in Brazil, an institutional portal based on accessibility requirements can contribute to access to information available in a web environment, reinforcing the greater participation of people with disabilities in line with the Brazilian Freedom of Information Act and the Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. The general objective of the research is to map actions to promote the inclusion of people of disability by Brazilian public archival institutions regarding access to information and to prepare a proposal to guide them regarding accessibility requirements in promoting this access in their institutional portalsThe methodological procedures included the survey of international and national legislation on the inclusion of people with disability and the preparation and application of questionnaires on the Informational Practices of Public Archives in Brazil, including archival description finding aids. The research universe was defined based on two official registers of public archives and/or by Archival Brazilian collections It was found that despite the existence of a large legal framework in Brazil and abroad, access to information with accessibility requirements falls short of reality in the institutions surveyed. In legislation, there is an emphasis on standardizing priority care and promoting access with accessibility requirements at the expense of the terms designated for people of disability. Based on the data collected, I concluded by presenting a model proposal based on five strategies that can be adopted as principles for promoting access to information.
