SUMMARY:

Issues involving gender and sexualities, as well as the fields of political disputes to face forms of sexual and gender discrimination, are social urgencies. Discursive controls on human sexuality cross history, permeating several sectors of society, with Education and formative spaces being significant apparatuses with lasting and potentially dangerous effects for marginalized social identities. Influenced by the works of the philosopher Michel Foucault and post-structuralist perspectives, we seek, in the context of initial teacher training, possible answers to many questions that involve ways of inserting ourselves in these devices. Think, collectively, about possibilities for building training spaces capable of expanding debates, strategies, critical perceptions in relation to socially imposed biological determinisms that permeate instances, institutions and pedagogical practices. In this sense, the present project aims to investigate the potentialities and limits of a discipline, offered in initial training, on gender, sexuality and education, guided by the theoretical-methodological approaches described. We intend, based on the conceptions of students enrolled and enrolled in the discipline Reflections on gender and sexuality in Science and Biology Teaching (RGeSex), at the University of Brasília (UnB). The present investigation was carried out from a qualitative approach, with the case study being the chosen methodological strategy. As research tools for collecting information, we adopted participant observation with video recordings, semi-structured interviews and document analysis of the materials produced by the students. Information analyzed from the perspective of Content Analysis proposed by Laurence Bardin. We believe that the analyzes of the information coming from the varied sources of evidence stimulate the discussion about the potentialities, challenges, doubts, contributions, of disciplines that address the themes of gender and sexuality in the initial formation of teachers.
