SUMMARY:

This thesis aims to conceptualize, validate, and define foundations, guidelines, and practical possibilities for a marginal and peripheral scientific education based on participation and joint production with a collective dedicated to the theme and public schools in the Federal District. Understanding the periphery as a place historically marked by social inequalities, stigmas, and suppression of the working class. On the other hand, it is also a place of power in terms of cultural production and resistance practices. Peripheral schools, those located in the outskirts and serving students from this community, are influenced by their context and suffer from similar material and cultural problems. This school is a place of reproduction and production of the dominance of the ruling class and, contradictorily, also a place of counter-hegemonic possibilities. Therefore, an emancipatory science education would have as its starting point the concrete reality of the student, as a historical and cultural being, for the appropriation of hegemonic and historically constructed knowledge of science, so that they can recognize, analyze, and participate in their context in a qualified manner and be able to participate in the decisions of scientific and technological processes in the periphery. The methodology of this research is based on the qualitative perspective through the action research method, involving participation in the Nucleus of Studies, Organization, and Dissemination of Knowledge about Marginal Literature (NEOLIM), which is a group of researchers about and from the periphery. We anticipate three moments: validation of theoretical categories and formative methods in the context of NEOLIM; adaptation of categories and perspectives of the school regarding marginal peripheral scientific education; NEOLIM in schools discussing marginal peripheral scientific education. The analyses will be developed according to the relevant theoretical foundations and reality, aiming to produce knowledge about a marginal and peripheral scientific education.
