SUMMARY:

This study analyzes the role of the State and its responsibility on the issue of food insecurity, both in regular periods and especially in critical situations, such as the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus. Thus, the general objective of this thesis is to understand how food insecurity policies are conditioned by State policies and regulation in Latin American countries. We will especially analyze the Brazilian case, advancing the analysis to the period of the pandemic. For this purpose, this case study will delimit, within the macroeconomic field, how the main lines of thought understand the role of the State and the market; how employment and income are determined in an Economy and how the problem of food insecurity is faced.
