This work involves a literature review and bibliometric analysis focusing on green finance within the financial system's context of climate mitigation and adaptation. Its primary aim is to present a structured literature review. To achieve this, we conducted a bibliometric analysis supported by the Bibliometrix tool, utilizing data from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, in order to identify the research motors. The findings reveal that academic research on green finance tends to be collaborative and interdisciplinary, displaying significant growth trends since the early 2000s. The examination of financial system policies and regulations stands out as a prominent research theme. Particularly relevant is the exploration of factors influencing regulatory bodies' actions and the associated limits and risks. An opportunity for further research arises in conducting a thorough analysis that integrates the perspectives of private agents and regulation concerning their responses to climate change.
