Dynamics of Choice and Success in Higher Education: An Agent-Based Modeling Approach and Dropout Analysis in Brazil
Higher education. Evasion. Access to Higher Education. Agent-based modeling.
The research aims to investigate the factors that influence choice and dropout in Brazilian higher education. Using an innovative agent-based modeling approach, the research seeks to simulate and predict higher education entry behavior, integrating personal, social and economic variables in different public policy contexts. In addition, the study will analyze how socioeconomic, personal, pre-undergraduate, academic, institutional and curricular determinants impact students' decision to continue or abandon their studies. The aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of choice and success in higher education, informing support policies and retention strategies to promote not only student retention and academic success, but also widening access.
