Three Essays on the Macroeconomics of Fiscal Policy

The general aim of this thesis project is to examine the validity of fiscal restraint and its practical applications, with a specific focus on the Brazilian context. It aims to investigate how the fiscal policies adopted respond to a series of global and local macroeconomic shocks, assessing their effectiveness in stabilizing the economy and promoting sustainable development and economic resilience in the long term. In addition, this study aims to analyze the interaction between fiscal and social policies in mitigating inequalities and supporting the most vulnerable sections of the population during periods of economic crisis.
