INCLUSIVE AND/OR NON-BINARY LANGUAGE: INCLUSION OF LGBTQIA+ STUDENTS IN THE SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSROOM

Given the expansion, in recent decades, of inclusive and/or non-binary language, which breaks with the nominal binarism of grammatical gender in the Spanish language, that is, the recognition of other grammatical genders besides masculine and feminine, in this research I propose to describe the current knowledge of these alternatives provided by inclusive and/or non-binary language among ELE teachers graduated from a federal institution in Brasilia. Through this qualitative-interpretative research, in the form of a case study, I intend to find out what is the position of these teachers in relation to gender inclusion in Spanish classes through interviews and forms; I also intend to create a manual that shows the non-binary inclusion alternatives offered by the Spanish language so that EFL teachers can use them in their classes with LGBTQIA+ students and students of all identities, because I believe that Applied Linguistics, borrowing the words of Professor Vilson Leffa (2001), has the ability to respond "to what society needs". Among the expected results, we intend to open a debate on the role of language in the constitution of identities and the responsibility of teachers in the fight against discrimination.
