CULTURE AND INTERCULTURALITY IN JAPANESE TEACHING: A STUDY ON THE MARUGOTO TEXTBOOK
Keywords: Language and Culture. Interculturality. Learning and teaching of Japanese language and culture. Courseware . Marugoto.
This work proposes to discuss the teaching of the Japanese language, focusing on the role that culture plays on the teaching of a foreign language. I will analyze teaching materials, that is, a case study in the form of document analysis to verify the interculturality present in the Japanese language teaching textbook Marugoto: Japanese Language and Culture (Starter A1) for beginners. This analysis will be carried out in two stages: searching and classifying the cultural contents present in Marugoto according to the definition of López and Sans (2004) of the culture with uppercase, lowercase and with K; and verify if the activities of reading comprehension (ARC) promote or not the teaching and learning process in the intercultural perspective (BULZACCHELLI, 2015). The investigation will show how culture within language teaching influences the development of the learner's linguistic skills and the growth of mutual respect between people from different countries, consequently, from different cultures, as well as giving space to questions about the training of teachers and of their role in the classroom.
