SUMMARY:

This work aims to propose an investigation project of false friends in comic books Monica and her friends, given the lack of accessible materials to address the theme. The theoretical framework is anchored in the reflection from the research models in learning a foreign language, applicable to the proximities between the Portuguese and Spanish languages, inferring positive and negative divergences established by the proximity - transfer relationship between the compared languages, in addition, observations on lexicon, vocabulary, language, text, genre, comics, their precursors and the Portuguese-Spanish false friends phenomenon. For this, the object of investigation were (08) eight comic books under the title Monica and her friends, from the years 2019 and 2020, marketed by Panini in partnership with Maurício de Sousa production. In the methodological field at the service of the research, the choice is made by the bibliographical perspective, based on the studies of Andrade (2010), basing the delimitation of the theme, in the development of the subject, the citations, the search for other references, in the reflection of the materials, in the construction of arguments and divergences, and also by the qualitative method, where Gonzáles Rey (2011) believes that knowledge can be understood as an instructive and deductive production, the result of the appreciation of the researcher's senses. The results obtained from the analysis of the data do not intend to guarantee that all the materials in this segment will be undoubted sources for the learning of false friends, but it emphasizes that the interpretive ability must be stimulated, making use of the visual elements and other sources. of information, because, although many words are known in the field of translation, others can be erroneously inferred from prior knowledge/phonetic and orthographic similarity from the perspective of the mother tongue. Therefore, these and other possible questions make the topic false friends an interesting challenge for the study and investigation of the topic.
