Between two Americas – income transfer policies in the pandemic context
Latin America. Anglo Saxon America; Income transfer; Pandemic, Social Protection;
This thesis project is a comparative study of cash transfer policies implemented in the Americas - Latin and Anglo-Saxon - during the most critical period (2020 - 2021) of the COVID-19 pandemic. The general objective of this project is to characterize the limits and possibilities of these policies as a social protection strategy in the face of the social and economic consequences intensified with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the American continent. Our analysis hypothesis assumes that such policies, even if they arise to respond to a global phenomenon that is the crisis generated by the pandemic, when applied in different social and economically contexts assume different protective characteristics.
