Perception of Police Violence Against Black Individuals in a Comparative Perspective: Analysis of Political Cartoons in Jamaica and Brazil

Political cartoons provide an immediate and incisive depiction of events that reverberate within a society at a specific moment in time. Through their analysis, we can gain insight into the occurrence of police violence against black individuals in various societies. The goal of this project is to compare Jamaica and Brazil as focal points of this violence and its representations, shedding light on the perspectives of black individuals in these two societies and establishing cultural connections to the treatment provided by their respective police forces within a globally replicated phenomenon.
