SUMMARY:

The present study aims to understand how the process of creating the Pró-Natureza Foundation (Funatura) took place and the role it played in advancing the Brazilian environmental agenda. Considering the importance of Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPNs) and the leading role of Funatura, the research will also investigate how this category of conservation unit originated and how the Foundation has encouraged and supported their creation, with a greater focus on the creation and management of RPPNs located in Chapada dos Veadeiros-GO.
