SOCIOTERMINOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF 4 TERMS IN THE SUBJECT FIELD OF DISCIPLINARY RELATIONS
Lexicon, Terminology, Socioterminology
This research is inserted in the line of Lexicon and Terminology. The object of study is the
concept of four terms: interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity, pluridisciplinarity, and
transdisciplinarity. The general objectives were to analyze the signified and signification of
these terms and to identify the concurrence or co-occurrence between multidisciplinarity
and pluridisciplinarity. The specific objectives were: i) to elaborate a corpus from
occurrences of the terms between the 1970s and the 2020s; ii) to produce a qualitative
framework of semas; iii) to analyze the signified and signification of the terms; and iv) to
explain the co-occurrence or concurrence between multidisciplinarity and
pluridisciplinarity. The corpus was elaborated with all the collected occurrences of the
terms, and the treatment was made through the Sketch Engine program, which lemmatized
the 50 most frequent units of each term. From this treatment, we generate semantic fields
and contrast the signification and signified of each lexical item through this opposition.
Thus, the results that were found attest to the effectiveness of semantic fields for
decomposing dissimilar sense and concepts for the terms multidisciplinarity and
pluridisciplinarity
