This thesis has an attempt to understand the role of multinational companies from the oil and gas sector in the progress of the international human rights agenda. Global corporations possess the capability to set stringent standards for labor conditions, preventing any form of modern slavery, child and forced labor. Corporations may opt to actively engage thorough due diligence processes to prevent the violation of vulnerable workers' rights within their supply chains and communities for several different reasons. From that, this thesis will answer to the follow question: To what extent oil and gas multinational companies are implementing international human rights standards in their daily practices and fulfilling the requirements from international organizations? It will use primary data collected from interviews with 3 oil and gas multinational companies and triangulate the information with content analysis of current available sustainability and human rights reports. The intersection between global corporations and international organizations will be scrutinized in this thesis while analyzing also the role of non-State actors in the global human rights agenda.
