SUMMARY:

This paper presents and contextualizes experiences of ancestry, encantaria (enchantment), and resistance in the communities of Belo Monte de Vitória do Xingu (BMVX) and Belo Monte do Pontal (BMP), located in Volta Grande do Xingu: "Southwest Amazon", in the state of Pará. People from these communities have had their lives negatively marked and transformed after the construction of the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant. The overall objective of the study is to map, record, and analyze the links between ancestry, encantaria, and resistance in the daily practices and processes of organization and struggle for life in the BMVX and BMP communities abruptly affected by the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant. To this end, the work presents narratives from traditional peoples from these two communities about their encounters with the encantadas (enchanted) entities during fishing, in dreams, in metaphysical transformations and through the bodies of animals, winds and waters. Thus, the traditional peoples revisited their memories and dreams with the encantados - who maintain the balance of nature - based on a mystical and ancestral cosmology, seeking dialogue with these beings as a way to survive and resist the market attacks in the region of Volta Grande do Xingu.
