SUMMARY:

The present work presents textures of the life history of the Community Association of Education in Health and Agriculture (ACESA) in the Mearim region in Maranhão and the dynamics of the process of struggle and conquest of the land, with emphasis on the construction of the collective identity of the subject ACESA and on the active participation of women. The research was carried out in the communities where it operates, in the Middle Mearim region, and interviewed leaders, technicians, former technicians, directors and those who contributed to the foundation. Another focus of this work is to give voice to babassu nut breakers and rural workers who have experienced conflicting situations on land, as well as the necessary contribution of the Catholic Church in the debate on the Base Ecclesial Communities and the spirituality of these communities. Debate still on oral history, collective subject and the different narratives that served as mobilization for the construction of social movements in the mearim region. In this work, the thread of life of stories and memories becomes a written line to draw word(s), establishing a dynamic process of fluidity and interdependence between materiality and meaning in the community life of the Middle Mearim. Therefore, we evoke and say texture – a texture that develops in the line of the palm tree, the coconut, the enchantments, the resistances and struggles, in the woven thread that materializes in different ways in the landscape, transformed into a place by the presences, by the identities, by cosmology full of sound and ritual, elements that are interconnected in all dimensions of ACESA's collective work
