Knowing how to use it will not be missing: The Practice of Seed Collectors from the Community Vão do
Moleque - Kalunga/GO.
Territory. Seeds. Collect. Women.
The Kalunga Vão do Moleque Quilombola Community has more than 300 years of struggles, resistance and
traditions. Its population lives basically from family farming, hunting and fishing and plant extraction. However, in recent years
residents have discovered a new way to increase family income through the extractive activity of collecting seeds from cerrado
species and subsequently selling them. The collection is mainly done by women, they collect the seeds and sell them, with the
profit obtained they guarantee the sustenance of their family groups. The Cerrado de Pé Association (based in Alto Paraiso de
Goiás/GO), a community partner, buys the seeds from the collectors. This work aims to demonstrate the entire process of using
cerrado seeds and the collectors' vision of their work.
