The present dissertation was developed in the riverside territory of the Maúba river, located in the city of Abaetetuba, in the region of lower Tocantins, in the State of Pará. It has the objective of presenting in relation to the management of the local açaí, the environmental, economic and social aspects, from the point of view of the extractivists, with the application of the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threatens) Matrix methodology, based on conversations in houses and productive lots. The açaí is of great cultural importance and is rooted in this traditional people, which are linked by their way of life and transmission of knowledge from their ancestors. The research presented here seeks to give visibility to the territory, including natural resources such as rivers, animals and forests. This knowledge is essential for the subsistence and sustenance of the riverside territory, which directly depend on these resources for food, housing, traditional medicines and other uses.
