"HUMAN EYES EVOLUTION: Teaching Biological Evolution by investigation in the ´Novo Ensino Médio´."
Biological Evolution. Teaching by Investigation. "Novo Ensino Médio". Interdisciplinarity. Human Eyes Evolution.
Different types of eyes are spectacular adaptations because of their obvious advantages. The human eye is a structure that presents high structural and physiological complexity, the result of millions of years of evolution. The teaching and learning of this object of knowledge must be accompanied by didactics focused on an interdisciplinary approach that contemplates the evolutionary processes occurred over time resulting in adaptations to the different environments that, according to several studies, Teaching by Investigation can offer these tools that enhance the pedagogical improvement of teaching and learning of the Biological Evolution of this adaptation. The investigative approach is considered a methodology that allows students to be protagonists in the construction of knowledge, in partnership with teachers, for the development of scientific knowledge and students' citizenship. The project objective is to improve the teaching and learning of Biological Evolution through Teaching by Investigation in the context of Natural Sciences in the "Novo Ensino Médio". For this, information will be collected from semi-structured interviews and participant observations with three teachers (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) from a class on Evolution of the human eye in an interdisciplinary way, in addition to the analysis of the textbook adopted by the teachers of the Natural Sciences in the academic year of 2023 in comparison with the books previously adopted in the year of 2021, to approach the contents that relate to the human eye and, then, propose teaching and learning strategies that allow the improvement of the understanding of this content.
