"ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION APPLIED TO THE SUSTAINABLE DISPOSAL OF ELECTRO-ELECTRONIC SOLID WASTE."
Environmental Education. Solid waste. Scientific investigation.
Environmental Education must be understood as forming individual development capable of providing an understanding of the relationships that must exist between man and the environment. Seeking improvements for the quality of life of society, it should be worked through a training process aimed at the student's commitment and respect for the environment. Considering the environmental impacts and this being an instrument capable of raising awareness and forming sustainable habits, this work aims to identify how Environmental Education has been worked on in high schools in the state network, with the goal of raising awareness, forming concepts and habits sustainability in students through the use of an investigative methodological strategy on urban solid waste that will give rise to a didactic sequence capable of being applied by other teachers or adapted to their reality. The choice of theme involves the problem of population growth that, associated with the consumerist lifestyle and the lack of treatment and destination for the waste produced, has been a consequence of the high production of urban solid waste (RSU) becoming one of the worst causes of several impacts and direct consequences of numerous diseases. The qualitative research with an exploratory objective using the action-research method was carried out with high school students from the Colégio Estadual da Polícia Militar Castelo Branco located in the city of Trindade. The applied methodology was through a problematization followed by an investigative and evaluative questionnaire. The results were tabulated, but to date have not been analyzed. The records made so far are descriptions of how the entire application occurred during classes and observations on student participation. Although the data have not yet been analyzed, it was possible to consider that the proposed objectives regarding the deepening of knowledge about the risks of incorrect disposal of solid waste, and the development of a conduct of sustainable living habits, were achieved.
