SUMMARY:

Self-inflicted violence in childhood and adolescence is something that has grown in Brazil and around the world and brings us a warning about the importance of mental health for all of us and especially for developing humans, children and adolescents. Self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation, panic attacks, depression and anxiety are increasingly present in the lives of children and adolescents and even though they are a social and multifactorial problem, it is necessary for families, schools and society to be informed and involved to promote health mental health of children and adolescents, in order to show them that life is worth living. This work aimed to use a didactic sequence with an investigative approach with 90 high school students, to address themes of Puberty and Adolescence. The methodology used consisted of an Investigative Didactic Sequence divided into 4 consecutive Biology classes with open and discursive questions that led adolescents to reflect on this period of transformation, so that they understood the importance of their emotional and mental health. Furthermore, a final evaluative questionnaire was presented to the students to analyze the students' perception of the teaching sequence applied. According to the results obtained, it can be observed that the students really liked the didactic sequence, however, their answers demonstrate the need to emphasize dialogue within the family and in the school environment about the main issues that teenagers face at this very important stage. unique and challenging experience in their lives, so that adults can support and welcome these young people in the best way possible. In this context, it is concluded that SDI is a viable and applicable educational product within the school, and can contribute to a better understanding of students, as well as their particularities, in order to promote a more understanding environment with more respect and acceptance for students, children and teenagers.
