SUMMARY:

The use of technologies in teaching Geography has become increasingly relevant and effective, providing new approaches and resources for student learning. One of the tools that has stood out in this context is Google Maps, an online mapping platform that offers a variety of resources and functionalities that can be explored in the classroom. Google Maps offers teachers and students the opportunity to explore the world in an interactive and immersive way. With this tool, it is possible to view detailed maps of different regions and countries, use satellite images to observe specific areas and even explore cities in 3D. This tool should be used as a complement and a way to enrich the teaching-learning process , providing new perspectives and opportunities to explore the world in innovative ways. The present work aims to present new tools used in Google Maps in elementary school Geography classes, facilitating the teaching-learning process in the classroom. This work proposes an activity, a pedagogical workshop, for students to learn how to work with Google Maps and its tools in the classroom and outside: Street –View, “Go back in time”, Discover distances, Tourism and Internal Maps.
