The paper addresses governance at Universidade de Brasília (UnB), focusing on the role of the Governance Officer. This professional plays an important role in promoting transparent, ethical and responsible practices within the institution. The research, which adopts an active research approach, aims to analyze the impact of the Governance Officer on decisions and the quality of management at UnB. Through interviews, document analysis and literature review, we seek to identify the relevance of integrity, transparency and accountability in the context of corporate governance. Comparison with theoretical and practical references will highlight the need to strengthen the ethical culture and responsibility of managers, aiming to generate sustainable value for the organization. The research conclusions highlight the importance of promoting an ethical, transparent and responsible organizational culture, valuing the integrity and financial sustainability of the institution. The role of the Governance Officer is essential to advance knowledge about governance in the public sector and to implement effective measures not only at UnB, but also in other government organizations.
