SUMMARY:

Incentives are fundamental motivating elements to boost productivity in organizations, including the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), especially in Ministers' offices. Considering the peculiarities of the management of each office, this study is relevant when investigating the coordinators' perception of the effectiveness of the incentives used to promote productivity and efficiency in the performance of civil servants' activities. In specific terms, we seek to answer whether incentives, as motivation mechanisms, can effectively result in a significant increase in productivity in offices. To achieve this objective, an exploratory bibliographical research was carried out, complemented by semi-structured interviews with a representative sample of the STJ Ministers' offices. The interviews were analyzed using the content analysis technique, identifying patterns and emerging themes in the interviewees' perceptions regarding incentives and their effects on productivity gains. The results provided valuable insights into the effectiveness of the incentives implemented in the STJ Ministers' offices. It was observed that practices such as teleworking have a noticeable impact on increasing productivity. Based on these conclusions, an intervention proposal was prepared to disseminate the main findings on incentives and motivation systems among the offices, contributing to strengthening the functioning of the Court and optimizing its performance in the Brazilian judicial system.
