SUMMARY:

This paper addresses the process of teaching-learning music for visually impaired people. It aims to understand how the person with adventitious blindness or low-vision perceives his musical learning in a formal context of music teaching. The research has as specific objectives to identify which activities and practices these students consider relevant in their musical learning process, understand how they justify this relevance, know the challenges that these students observe in their musical learning process and the strategies they use to facilitate their musical learning process. This is a qualitative, exploratory and empirical research, carried out during the pandemic period through remote interaction, music classes and interviews. The data generation instruments were participant observation, field diary and semi-structured interview and memory stimulation. Four people participated in this study, three with adventitious blindness and one person with low vision, attended, at some point in their formation, in the Sala de Recursos do Centro de Educação Profissional Escola de Música de Brasília. The results of the research indicate that, despite the remote interaction, the process of teaching and musical learning was effective through listening and auditory discernment, describing movements, gestures and positions for the execution of phrases and rhythmic-melodic motives and music-description.
