This work focuses on student dropout in stricto sensu postgraduate courses at the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (FAV) of the University of Brasília (UnB) between 2017 and 2022, emphasizing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Student dropout is a significant issue, leading to social, academic, and economic losses, especially in public institutions where public resources are expended. With the pandemic, education suffered significant impacts, requiring adaptations such as the implementation of emergency remote teaching by UnB. The study is structured in a multipaper format, with an introduction, two articles, a technical product, and final considerations, using quantitative and qualitative methodologies, analysis of institutional documents, and a survey of the State of Knowledge. The proposed technical product is a questionnaire attached to the course withdrawal form, aiming to collect data on the motivators of dropout. The goal is to use this information to develop strategies to reduce dropout rates in the postgraduate programs at FAV-UnB. The research is especially relevant due to the scarcity of studies on dropout in stricto sensu postgraduate courses and the need to understand the effects of the pandemic on education
