SUMMARY:

This dissertation is the result of the National Network Professional Master's Program in Physical Education at the University of Brasília, focusing on school physical education and, specifically, the incorporation of combat sports into the bodily culture of movement. Although combat sports are significant cultural elements, their pedagogical approach presents challenges and lacks understanding. This research aims to evaluate the application of combat sports games methodology as a pedagogical resource, especially in the early years of elementary school. The opposition games approach is used to investigate shared elements in these practices, such as distance and conditional principles, in order to create an educational program that integrates combat sports into the curriculum structure. The overall objectives include proposing a curriculum framework for the fifth grade, using distance-based classification and identifying combat sports' conditional principles. An educational artifact is developed in the form of a Didactic Unit and is experimented with in collaboration with the physical education teacher, aiming to facilitate student participation and understanding of conceptual, attitudinal, and procedural aspects. The theoretical foundation covers a literature review on combat sports, their scientific terminologies, distance-based classification, conditional principles, and pedagogical approaches. The epistemological basis was grounded in the "Educational Design" approach, using a pedagogical praxis from an interventionist perspective that involved planning and developing educational products. This ensures both scientific grounding and an educational perspective while enabling the concrete applicability of this work by creating an interventionist pedagogical didactic unit. The research comprises five phases: the analysis, design, and development phases are based on theory, while the implementation and evaluation phases are related to the realization of the educational artifact. The results of this approach are discussed, showing formative contributions to participating teachers and indicating possibilities and limits of including combat sports in lessons. Through this game-centered methodology, it is expected that the experience will allow students to critically access combat sports content and increase their participation in a reflective manner. This promotes an enriching and culturally contextualized educational approach to combat sports.
