Various challenges are encountered in higher education, particularly motivation, engagement, reducing dropout rates, and the constant need for dialogue with the communication methods used by students. To address these issues, the main objective of this research was to develop a prototype of an educational tool based on gamification techniques to assist in teaching Lean Construction content in the Civil Engineering course, focusing on improving student engagement, motivation, and learning. The methodology used was Design Science Research (DSR), which allowed for the detailing of the "Work in Lean" game prototype, specifying its learning objectives, information collection methodologies, feedback, and usage metrics, as well as strategies to promote engagement and interest among participants. An investigation was conducted to evaluate its effectiveness in learning, demonstrating that the game was able to improve students' knowledge of Lean Construction and promote engagement and motivation. Suggestions for future work include evaluating the efficiency of combining game usage with theoretical classes, researching teachers' receptivity to teaching games, and conducting experiments with different student profiles to understand their preferences and outcomes
