Cement-based materials develop some problems, such as risks of shrinkage cracks, which, if they occur, affect the useful life of the structure and compromise structural performance. Various materials to mitigate shrinkage have been investigated with the aim of both mitigating shrinkage and also increasing resistance to cracking in cement-based materials. Among these solutions to mitigate shrinkage, adding a shrinkage reducing additive (ARR) or expansive agent (EA) has been widely adopted in cementitious materials. Another problem linked to civil construction is the significant amount of marble waste generated in the processing of ornamental stones. Several studies have sought to use this waste in civil construction, through different possibilities, with the thermal treatment of marble waste being a solution with limited research aimed at mitigating shrinkage. Therefore, the general objective proposed for this research is to investigate the influence of heat treatment of marble waste as a proposed solution to mitigate shrinkage in cementitious materials. To this end, an experimental and numerical program divided into four stages was proposed, in which the preparation of heat-treated agents and characterization of all materials used in the research have already been carried out, activities relating to the first stage; and the study of the dosage of cementitious materials, which comprised the second stage to define the mixture levels. The third stage will be carried out based on the dosages chosen in the second stage, which will include microstructural tests on cement pastes, and tests to evaluate the fresh state, mechanical and shrinkage properties in conventional concrete. And finally, the fourth stage will be carried out using the results obtained in experimental tests, in which thermomechanical simulations will be carried out, on simple concrete structural elements, so that, later, a quantitative assessment can be made of the structural behavior in the early ages when materials are used. that cause expansive effects in concrete. With the completion of the research proposal, it is expected to obtain a new possibility for marble waste, providing a sustainable effect of great importance to the environment, as long as it will generate a suitable destination for this waste.
