SUMMARY:

In democracies, those who run the country are chosen through elections. With the aim of increasing security, reducing fraud, streamlining procedures and improving management, several countries use information systems in their electoral processes. In Brazil, the electronic voting machine is the greatest exponent of the informatization of the electoral process, having been introduced in 1996 with the aim of combating the fraud’s history in manual voting. The voting machine use has been a matter of debate ever since. In this sense, this study sets out to evaluate confidence in the Brazilian electronic voting process, by collecting information on the acceptance of the use of electronic voting machines, using as a reference the Unified Theory of Acceptance And Use of Technology (UTAUT) model and analysis of information with the PLS-SEM structured equation method. 1,851 responses were received to the electronic form and the analysis indicated that the variables Perception of Safety (PS), Trust in Technology (TR), Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE) and Social Influence (SI) have explanatory potential 0.848 on the Intention to Use (BI) of the electronic voting machine and 0.588 on the Intention to Change (BII).
