SUMMARY:

The present study aims to define, analyze and apply the principle of tempo-rhythm, first mentioned by Constantin Stanislavski, relating it to the process of creating a Musical Theatre show. Firstly, a literature review of both concepts, tempo and rhythm, was made separately, starting from the definition of the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians to the one presented by Patrice Pavis, in the Dictionary of the Theatre. The second part of this study is dedicated to Stanislavski's artistic life, focusing on his research on tempo-rhythm, the key concept for this thesis. The third part shows how this Stanislavski's concept dialogues with different ones developed by other researchers, such as Jerzy Grotowski, Renato Ferracini and Jacyan Castilho. This comparative analysis was essential to formulate a proper definition that guided this study. Finally, the different stages of the creation of the musical "Isso Passa?" were presented, from its textual and musical dramaturgy to the process in the rehearsal room, which allowed us to deepen the analysis of the tempo-rhythm principle in the experiential practice.
