SUMMARY:

The theme of the thesis investigates the political struggle of mothers - mothering - seen from the point of view of artivism that emerged during the pandemic in Brazil, between 2020 and 2023, focusing on body arts as a way to build a common political project in a moment of generalized crisis, especially that of representation. Care, a service usually provided by women, especially mothers, although already widely discussed by feminist theories, has been increasingly debated given its importance for democracy. Being a subject little treated in the performing arts, during the pandemic, however, it gained visibility and entered the national artistic and political agenda. This research shows these relationships between art and politics around the theme of care, establishing the mother as her own social category, in which the body and the networks of affection produce theoretical and practical reflections. In addition to the analysis of some works and experiments, based on the Klauss Vianna Technique and the AND Operative Mode, the study brings possibilities of deepening maternal artivism for the pedagogy of the performing arts, but also seeks to expand the sphere of social and artistic participation of women.
