SUMMARY:

The Cultural Support Fund of the Federal District (FAC/DF) is a financial instrument aimed at supporting cultural programs initiated by the local government. Since 2009, cultural agents who receive grants through FAC/DF have been required to publicly account for both financial and non-financial aspects through "Information Accountability Reports." The main objective of this study is to analyze the theater sector based on the "Information Accountability Reports of the Cultural Support Fund of the Federal District" from 2009 to 2022. The specific objectives include (i) contextualizing FAC/DF, (ii) locating and analyzing the nonfinancial information related to the theater sector in the "Information Accountability Reports" between 2009 and 2022. Three distinct analyses were conducted. The first focused on the theater sector due to the substantial financial contributions from FAC/DF specifically allocated for theatrical projects, in comparison to other artistic areas such as music, visual arts, and dance. The second analysis was based on the temporal scope derived from the utilization of the "Information Accountability Reports." The third analysis identified non-financial information present in these reports. To achieve these objectives, the research was divided into five stages: (i) literature review, theoretical framework analysis, (ii) development of fieldwork methodology, instrument and procedure production, and research qualification, (iii) application of the methodology and data organization, (iv) methodology and content evaluation, (v) final dissertation writing, review (content and formatting), and presentation to the final committee. Mapping and understanding the characteristics of results presented by the theater sector of the Federal District contribute to public transparency in cultural promotion processes, recognizing the work of artists, the importance of documents and archives, and acknowledging professionals involved in managing arts information. Preliminary findings indicate the multidisciplinary nature of this research topic. Considering culture in terms of public policies, accounting terminology, and information sources brings clarity to the cultural promotion process and how it is represented to society as feedback. Filling these gaps will preserve cultural history in its entirety.
