RESUMO:

Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) adducts are chemical substances obtained by the addition reaction between carbonyl compounds and olefins conjugated with electron-withdrawing groups. The product of this reaction contains an allylic alcohol group, which, when converted into allyl vinyl ethers, can undergo a sigmatropic rearrangement of the [3,3] type, called the Claisen rearrangement. Interest in Claisen rearrangement products has arisen in the chemical community, leading to the development of several studies, resulting in versions of this reaction with variations in reaction conditions, catalysts used, or substrates involved. In this work, the Ireland-Claisen variation was explored, in an unprecedented way, to study the influence of the heteroatom in this reaction, using characterisation techniques such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Infrared Spectroscopy, and Mass Spectrometry. Additionally, enzymatic kinetic resolution assays of MBH adducts prepared from ethyl acrylate and aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes were performed using the CALB enzyme.
