SUMMARY:
The success obtained in genetic crossings and improvement of nutritional and sanitary management allowed promising results in pig farming (ABCS, 2022). Brazil is the fourth largest pork exporter and domestic demand has increased in recent years, reaching per capita consumption of 18 kg/inhabitant/year (IBGE, 2023). Due to the increase in sanitary challenges, the use of antimicrobials in low dosages for certain periods are still used as growth promoters. International entities and the Brazilian government warn of the danger of increasing strains resistant to antimicrobials and establish restrictions for the use of antibiotics. The pathogen's susceptibility differs between populations and individuals, and may express resistance or sensitivity. The present work is justified by virtue of the increase in resistance to antimicrobials. The study will contribute to the knowledge of the epidemiological situation in the DF, characterizing for the first time the respiratory bacterial agents circulating in swine breeder farms and their respective resistance profiles. The present work can act as a management tool in pig farming, in addition to collaborating with single health by directing future studies that consider alternatives to the use of antibiotics. The objective encompasses the identification by bacteriological and molecular diagnosis of bacteria with the potential to cause respiratory diseases in pigs and also the association of antimicrobial resistance to the sanitary protocols used and vulnerability criteria observed in each farm.
