SUMMARY:

Speech Pathology, which covers orofacial motricity and its various actions, including aesthetic interventions, has explored techniques such as electrostimulation, originally used for muscle rehabilitation and now widely applied in areas such as fitness, sports and aesthetics. Its application in facial aesthetics aims to improve muscle toning, reduce wrinkles and expression lines, and promote a younger and healthier skin appearance. With the advancement of technology and the growing demand for non-invasive and effective treatments, electrostimulation has stood out as an innovative and promising option for those who seek to improve their facial appearance safely. The objective of the present study is to analyze the effectiveness of the use of TENS as an adjuvant to the traditional orofacial myofunctional aesthetic treatment associated with the use of biofeedback. This is a quasi-experimental study that involves an intervention followed by the analysis of the results (outcomes), to be performed from May 2024 to March 2025. The sample calculation determined that the study needs 90 participants, divided into 2 groups of n=45 - 1 control group (G1) and 2 research group (G2). For both groups will be applied the program of Myofunctional Orofacial Therapy Directed to Attenuate the Signs of Facial Aging (TMOEF)which aims to perform the evaluation and orofacial myofunctional treatment directed to facial aesthetics G2 received an additional therapeutic resource, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). It is expected that the results of the experimental group (G2), submitted to facial electrostimulation intervention, are higher than those obtained by the control group (G1), which received standardized therapy. Specifically, it provides for a significant improvement in facial muscle tone, reduction of expression lines and wrinkles, increased firmness and elasticity of the skin, as well as attenuation of visible signs of aging, such as sagging and irregularities in skin texture.
