Minority report: decisiveness and accountability as drivers for good
governance in Latin American minority governments
PRESIDENTIALISM. MINORITY GOVERNMENTS. GOVERNANCE. ACCOUNTABILITY.
This research aims at studying minority presidential governments in Latin America in terms of their policy performance, exploring which sets of political and institutional determinant factors can account for better-than-average policy outcomes. The causal conditions assessed for such purposes are decisiveness factors (presidential powers, reconcilability of party goals, cabinet/congress congruence and a legislative support threshold) and a significant accountability role by the legislature.
