SUMMARY:

In urban centers, the demand for maximum use of a development's floor area means that most basement excavations are vertical. This necessitates the design of containment structures. In the Federal District, pile curtains are commonly used, either in balance or associated with nails and/or anchors. In view of this, this study aims to understand the geomechanical behavior of these structures alone and associated with different combinations (overhanging piles, piles with nails, piles with anchors or piles with nails and anchors), as well as these structures in relation to the aspects of the soil of the Federal District (collapsibility), analyses will be carried out based on numerical modeling validated on monitoring and test data, using the Barcelona Basic Model. The aim is to simulate the unsaturated behavior of Brasília's porous clay. The qualification presents some results relating to (i) the validation of the soil parameters for the GIS project using the Soil Test tool and the numerical model of the direct shear test, (ii) the results of the simulation of the unsaturated behavior of the porous clay using the BBM, (iii) validation of the case study (SIG Project), by comparing the displacement profiles obtained through modeling and monitoring, (iv) analysis of the influence of soil saturation on the displacement and stresses in the structural elements (clamps), and (v) monitoring of the SHN Project.
