SUMMARY:

Introduction. Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disease and age is the main risk factor. The symptoms and motor signs of the disease are well elucidated in the literature, however there is the existence of non-motor symptoms such as respiratory symptoms which is the main cause of death in individuals with Parkinson's disease, and these symptoms are not well elucidated in the literature. . Objective. To analyze apnea in earlystage Parkinson's disease by means of cineradiography and in the advanced stage of the disease in the presence of stress. Materials and methods. Three groups of C57BL/6J mice were analyzed, the control group (n=18), the early-stage Parkinson's group (n=9) and the advanced stage Parkinson's group (n=9). The experimental groups were induced to mimic features of Parkinson's disease through neurosurgery and application of 6- hydroxydopamine in the striatum. In the control group, saline was used. The animals underwent behavioral tests to confirm the lesion and later the animals were analyzed individually in the cineradiography device that allows the analysis of visceral movements, in this way apnea will be analyzed in pre and post stress. The important measurements will be made using a software called KINOVEA. The statistical tests used will be ANOVA. Descriptive statistics will also be used to enrich the study. Expected results. Apnea is expected to be more frequent in the experimental groups, especially in the Parkinson's group at an advanced stage, and to be more evident after the groups are subjected to stress. Such results are important, as they help to elucidate causes of respiratory problems that lead the carrier of the disease to death.
