OBJECTIVE: Analysis of the importance of the implementation of epidemiological surveillance nodes in the low, medium and high complexity of health care in the Unified Health System of Brazil METHODS: Four proposals of studies have been developed to analyze the research object of this thesis. The first manuscript is a descriptive study with secondary data, recorded in the year 2022, which characterizes compulsory notifications registered by hospitals. (high complexity). The second manuscript refers to the development of realistic immersion methodology for preparing professionals to develop active epidemiology in hospitals. The third manuscript is a descriptive study with secondary data, recorded in the year 2022, which characterizes compulsory notifications recorded by the Early Care Units (average complexity). The fourth manuscript refers to a descriptive study with secondary data, recorded in the year 2022, which characterizes compulsory notifications registered by the Basic Health Units (low complexidade). The results of the other studies are still being examined. RESULTS: Through the results of the first manuscript it was possible to observe that notifications coming from the hospital network correspond to more than 35% of the other compulsory notifications made in all health units, highlighting the main health problems that occur in the country related to infectious and contagious diseases. CONCLUSION: The reformulation of the organization of Basic Health Units, Emergency Care Units and Hospitals with the insertion of epidemiology centers integrated into the physical space where these services exist will strengthen the epidemiological surveillance of Brazil and thus prepare the country to respond opportunely to possible public health emergencies.
