SUMMARY:

Among oral injuries, dental trauma is among the most frequent oral health problems, affecting the primary dentition with greater prevalence. It has been a growing and frequent public health problem, with a strong impact on quality of life with physical, emotional and economic consequences for children and their families. Due to the scarcity of longitudinal studies that investigate and quantify the factors associated with the occurrence of traumatic dental injuries, as well as their consequences on the long-term development of the child and their family nucleus, it is necessary that more studies be developed. to contribute to this issue. The objective of this longitudinal study is to determine the prevalence and incidence of dental trauma in the primary dentition and its associated factors, verify Parental Styles and Dimensions and the Sense of Maternal Coherence in a cohort) of babies born at the Hospital Universitário de Brasília (EIXO). Children will be assessed annually until they turn 6 years old. Sociodemographic, socioeconomic, anthropometric and behavioral data will be collected, in addition to data on dental trauma (LDTs) and seeking care after trauma. Children will be clinically assessed and aspects of LDTs will be examined using the Andreasen et.al (2012) classification and subsequently occlusion assessment. Parents/guardians will answer a questionnaire about Parenting Styles and Dimensions and another questionnaire will be applied to mothers about Maternal Sense of Coherence. The exams will be carried out by 4 properly trained and calibrated examiners. The data will be tabulated in an Excel spreadsheet and transferred to the Stata version 12.0 program and the statistical test that best applies will be used to evaluate the associated factors.
