"Enamel defects and dental caries: photographic analysis of orthodontic patients"
"dental enamel, dental caries, molar incisor hypomineralization, dental fluorosis"
"This study aims to assess the prevalence of incisor molar hypomineralization (MIH), fluorosis (FD) and dental caries (CD) in individuals between 10 and 45 years of age. For this, orthodontic documentation of patients who underwent orthodontic treatment between 2001 and 2012 in a private practice in Brasília, DF, will be evaluated. The evaluation of the photographs present in the documentation will be carried out for the diagnosis of MIH, DF and CD, using the criteria: MIH-SSS (MIH Severity Scoring System); Thylstrup and Fejerskov and CAST (Caries Assessment Spectrum and Treatment), respectively. Data will be tabulated and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the most appropriate statistical test. In this way, it will be possible to assess, in an adult population, the prevalence of these enamel development defects, especially MIH, since this was described for the first time in the literature only in 2001. These findings will contribute to the understanding of the behavior of the problems under investigation over time and will allow comparison with data on the prevalence of the same conditions collected in the population of children and adolescents in the Federal District."
