SUMMARY:

The constraint led approach, based and justified in ecological dynamics, has attracted researchers and Coaches in the area of sports performance and training. Understanding the human being as a complex and adaptive system, that is, a highly integrated network that interacts through its subcomponents and uses information from its surroundings to coordinate its behavior, highlights this training model. Few studies related the constraint on attack time with tactical performance in basketball, in addition to no investigative study over the constraint on the decision-making time of the player with the ball and his tactical performance while performing SSG in basketball, a strategy widely used in training of this sport. These estudies verified that SSG with attack time allows the impact on technical changes and tactical behavior, increasing the number of dribbles, decreasing screen actions and increasing violations in attack time. On the other hand, no study has verified the consequences of the constraint of the decision-making time rule with the ball on variables that represent technical-tactical performance (effectiveness of actions and quality of decision-making). The aim of this study was to compare the effects of attack time limitation, decision making time and both constraints (attack and decision making) during small sided games in 3x3 configuration on the tactical performance of under 15/17 years old basketball players. Twenty-four male basketball players who participated in national competitions participated in the study. A pilot was carried out to define the sample that would be applied and not applied to the main study. There were 11 SSGs in a 2-hour training session and the 3x3 configuration was used, with restrictions on attack time and decision-making time with the ball, lasting 5 minutes and passive breaks of 5 minutes, each team playing at least 2 games. The treatment of data with a descriptive outline (mean, standard deviation and relative and absolute frequencies), a GEE analysis (General Estimated Equations – p≤0.05) and the effect size through Cramer's V analysis. SPSS 20.0 software was used to perform the GEE and Excel program to calculate the effect size.
