SUMMARY:

Police officers can be subjected to simulations of armed confrontations where there is a need to perform various physical efforts and make decisions in a short period of time to solve these situations. For this reason, adequate levels of physical fitness and anxiety are critical to performance. Therefore, this research aims to: (i) analyze the physical fitness of military police officers in the Radio Patrol modality, (ii) verify their influence on their performance in a simulation of armed confrontation, and (iii) identify the influence of anxiety on the performance of this task during the career through three empirical studies. In the first study, military police officers aged between 20-29 years, 30-39 years and 40-49 years will be included, using the Physical Fitness Test (TAF-3) of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo as an instrument. In the second study, military police officers with up to 25 years of age and 0-5 years of career will be included, 26-35 years of age with 6-13 years of career, 36-45 years of age with 14-20 years of career and age ≥ 46 years with career time ≥ 21 years, and the instruments used will be the TAF-3, a demographic questionnaire and the Giraldi Method® simulation test of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo. Finally, in the third study, military police officers with career times between 0-5 years, 6-13 years, 14-20 years and ≥ 21 years will be included, using as instruments a Polar heart rate monitor, a demographic questionnaire, in addition to the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (IDATE) and the simulation test of armed confrontation Method Giraldi® of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo.
