SUMMARY:

In the context of basketball, players are challenged to apply tactical-technical skills amid unpredictable opposition, requiring continuous decision-making in complex situations. The acquisition of tactical knowledge (TK) in the teaching-learning-training process of basketball promotes in players an appropriate tactical performance (TP) according to the situational demands of the game. In this sense, dual-tasking serves as a means to promote in players the competence to make decisions and execute tactical-technical actions in unpredictable and complex circumstances presented by the game of basketball. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the effect of implementing a dual-task-based teaching-learning-training program in basketball on the knowledge and tactical performance of novice school athletes in the sport. The study will be characterized as an explanatory research with a quasi-experimental design and a non-equivalent control group. The sample for this study will consist of novice basketball players of both genders, aged between 10 and 12 years, organized into an experimental group and a control group. Initially, the content validation procedure of the dual-task-based intervention program will be conducted. Subsequently, the program will be implemented in 12 teaching sessions, each lasting 40 minutes, thus forming the didactic teaching unit. Declarative and procedural basketball knowledge tests will be used to measure TK, and the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) will be employed to measure tactical performance. After the program's implementation, it is expected that players in the experimental group will show improvements in declarative tactical knowledge and tactical performance in the post-test.
