SCREENING THE FUNCTIONAL DECLINE OF COMMUNITY OLDER ADULTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Health in the elderly translates into global functionality, which in times of a pandemic can be affected by social isolation. Objective: To identify the risk of functional decline and analyze the associated factors among community older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: A screening-type epidemiological survey with cross-sectional design will be carried out, with sample representative of the Federal District, Brazil (n=1,193 older adults). Data will be collected through a questionnaire in the electronic format. The outcome variable will be functional decline established by the Clinical-Functional Vulnerability Index instrument-20 (IVCF-20). Demographic, socioeconomic, health and behavioral variables will also be investigated. For data analysis, descriptive (frequency distribution) and association procedures (Chi-square test, Poisson regression and binary logistic regression, with crude and adjusted analyses) will be used. The significance level adopted will be 5%.
