SUMMARY:

The objective of this thesis is to seek, in the studies of György Lukács, contributions to the debate that Physical Education has been carrying out on education and human formation. In this sense, the following specific objectives are being investigated: a) To analyze the studies developed by Lukács on the ontology of the social being and its relations with human formation; b) to Identify the ontological determinations of the categories of work and alienation in the current capitalist social condition; c) Compare the complex of human formation with the categories of work and alienation; d) Verify the ontological determinations of training in a humanization process; e) Search in the literature produced, in the field of Physical Education, points of convergence and conflict regarding the theme of Human formation; f)Structuring possible mediations and contributions of Lukács' thought to Brazilian Physical Education. The methodology used is historical and dialectical materialism. The hypothesis about the research is that the studies of the categories of work and alienation, by György Lukács, in “For an ontology of the social being”, consigned in the 1970s, are still fundamental today for the analysis, development and understanding of the process of humanization and, for the production of a critical social theory aligned with human emancipation.
